    The pictures now work.

mattc005: 102 is an inland route that runs parallel to 101. 101 goes on the narrow spit where all the beaches are. See the map.

The rest of Surf City will come tomorrow.

Thanks for the comments. I don't have much time, so I'll do a fun-sized update.
Here is a city that I just started to the west of Surf City, named Long Beach Island.
    LBITitle.jpg
Population is hovering around 60,000. Here is a road map.
    LBI1.jpg
Now: I have some bad news. I am going to have football (yes, American) camp for the next two weeks, so updates, if any, will be very small. Major updates will probably resume in September.

Thanks for all the comments. I have found time for a small update. This will cover the beach section of Long Beach Island (where BR 101 runs through).

    LBI3.jpg
ABOVE: The Long Beach Island section of the Mayor's Island. I have now downloaded the Beaches for Irregular Coasts from the STEX, so hopefully, my beaches will look a little better.
BELOW: Once across the 101 bridge to the main Long Beach Island, BR 101 splits into dual one-way roads.
    LBI7.jpg

    LBI8.jpg
ABOVE: View of an office building inbetween split routes 101.
BELOW: CLoseup of intersection along east 101.
    LBI10.jpg

    LBI4.jpg
ABOVE: BR 101- I-302 and BR 17 intersection.
BELOW: View of a high-rise and surrounding neighborhoods.
    LBI6.jpg

    LBI5.jpg
    ABOVE: More neighborhoods.
    BELOW: Area around BR 87.
    LBI12.jpg

More on Long Beach Island in another update. Comments would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: For the next update, the pictures will be 800 by 600. I am beginning to notice that some of the pictures are a bit pixelated. They will still be hosted offsite, though.

Mattc005: Thanks as always. BR 101 runs through every city on the Binsur coastline.

Gat-x105: Not only have I been to NJ, but I live there. This is where I take the names from. I take some names from places in NJ and NY, such as Hale Eddy, Hancock, and Suffern, as well as make my own names up.

    It's also my 300th POST!!!39.gif

NOTE: I have made the pix a bit larger, so hopefully that helps with the pixelation problem.

Here is Wyatt City, a section of Long Beach Island atop Mt. Wyatt.

Mattc005: Well I was planning a regional update next anyway. Yes, things have changed because Binsur has surpassed the 3,000,000 mark!

However. my football game today was cancelled due to what's left of Ivan and has screwed up my schedule. Therefore, there will be no update this week. But the next update will be a big one. Not only am I getting a new region shot, but I am returning to the UDI format to showcase some of my farm cities. What will happen, you ask? Heck, I don't even know. Tune in next weekend to find out...

It's been a very busy month for me, but I have finally found time for an update. If this GIF works like it should, then here is the current pix of the region of Binsur. The current population is 3,244,816.
    reg2.gif

The next update will be Rancho Cucamonga. It has an interesting storyline to it that I hope will attract more posts to this CJ. But for now, here are some teaser pics of new areas around the Catskill Highway (BR 17).

    Cool! Update!

Region view is nice... good work with the GIF!44.gif

I see you're laying off the highways as you get into the farm country.

The town's nice too... looks like something you'd see in the mid-west

Can't wait for another update!! 35.gif35.gif35.gif

Mattc005: Yes, this is what I was aiming for with these cities, a bit of a rural look.

I am working on a Rancho Cucamonga storyline and update, and it may take a while. But here is a teaser pic of a circle on BR 31.
    RanchoCucamonga-Dec7371096775451.jpg
Why, do you ask, is it old I-1101? You will figure out on the next update...

Please vote for Binsur in the Golden Llama Awards!!! 2.gif

As promised, here is the story of Rancho Cucamonga.
    RaC7.jpg
Rancho Cucamonga is a city in transition. It is stuck inbetween large cities such as South Binsur, South Andover, and Evanston. However, its farms have managed to stay around due to strict zoning codes by the old mayor. However, the old mayor has passed on and a new, energetic mayor is in place.

    RaC8.th.jpg

(the pic is too big for ST, click to see it)
Here is downtown. These office buildings were recently built. Long-time residents opposed it because they felt that the buildings looked out of place compared to the rest of the town. However, the mayor gave the project the green light, hoping to cash in on the extra tax money.
    RaC19.jpg
Here is an old pic of a long-standing farm on BR 80. To increase the population, the mayor bought out the farm from the owner, who was struggling to make ends meet because of competition from bigger farms out west. He then bulldozed the farm to make way for...
    RaC3.jpg
his mansion as well as some new housing.RaC4.jpg
    RaC5.jpg
Similar circumstances happened to the farm across the street. By now, a grass-roots radical environmental group called SELF (SimEarth Liberation Front) had noticed this trend and was very upset about the fact that developers were taking over the last pristine farming land in eastern Binsur. Despite this, the mayor kept pushing development, and one by one, farms in Rancho Cucamonga were disappearing. Then, the spark plug ignited...
    RaC18.jpg
All of this land to the left of BR 31 used to be owned by a farmer named John Kapelman. Kapelman Farms was still making a profit selling apples to the Binsur City area, but was forced out of business when the mayor, who had a grudge against him, secretly raised taxes against his farm. This was the last straw for SELF, and they decided to take evasive action. What would they do? Find out next update...

Once again, PLEASE comment!!! All comments are appreciated.

An interesting update - you can really see the farms being engulfed by the subdivisions, just like real life. 19.gif I look forward to seeing what happens. 1.gif

I was going to try and update today, but it looks like there are some issues, so I will hold off on it until Saturday. 22.gif Sorry.

After I am done with Rancho Cucamonga, I will give a tour of BR 17, similar to the way I did BR 101, but in UDI mode.

Sorry for the lack of updates again. I guess I've been getting a littlle lazy... Now that football is over for me, I should have some more time for updates. Expect to see what will happen in Rancho Cucamonga this weekend. While I have some time, I'll show you a teaser pic of what will be covered in a future update: Hummelsville.

So what did SELF do? They resorted to a fiery protest. First, they set fire to the Wal-Mart in nearby South Binsur, to attract the attention of the Rancho Cucamonga fire department. Then... Well I guess the pix say it all. It was taken by a Channel 6 helicopter.
    firerac20vg.gif
Below is the aftermath. The population after the disaster is around 2500 and falling, after it was once 10,000.
    racu82ia.jpg
    racu96ah.jpg
The Rancho Cucamonga treasury was already stressed for cash, and this just exacerbated the situation. The town was in ruin, and people were leaving in droves. Can this city survive? Towns from all over Binsur drove in aid, including Long Beach Island. We will follow this shipment as it makes its long journey along BR 17 next update. Please comment.
