I was playing my city, and all of a sudden there were huge health alerts from my sims, a brown haze took over my city and my population immediately dropped. I noticed my city had reached 250 years old, could this be the problem? and if so, how do i get rid of it?

Do you use any custom lots and buildings from the exchanges? I mean, perhaps a sudden boast of dirty industry grew while you were playing on cheetah speed, but that sounds more like a bugged lot that has absurdly high air pollution properties.

Yeah like HDH said it could either be a lot or an amazing boost in dirty industry while you weren't looking (cause they like to sneak up on you). Or maybe its some problem with the lot because maybe the uploader didn't foresee how long the lot was intended to be there. Maybe you could put up some good pictures to help us get a better idea. Or you might want to use some sort of lot that eliminates all pollution

looks like you have pretty much reached "life as you know it" in your city... its never fun to see pollution take over your city.... , here are four "Simple!" steps to getting rid of dirty industry , which may help a little.

1: fine tune your educational system(everywhere is serviced by high schools and elementary ones too , libraries , etc...)make yourself proud...

2: wait about 10 years or so(or until dirty industry is packing bags(according to the demand at least , because there slow!) and you high-tech is flooding in(or at least wanting to))

3: in the mean time , increase dirty industry taxes , and reduce your high-tech taxes.keep manufacturing taxes at a "Middle of the road" level.

4:after fully completing all other three steps(and you have a very very high high-tech demand)demolish entire districts of dirty industry.(and in doing so... you will get rid of all the pollution)then put stuff like parks in to encourage re-growth , in hopes of seeing high-tech swell in your city.

these may look simple - but follow your city , don't just go through everything without thinking about how your going to re-create those jobs and keep you financial system in the black.(uhh... ever made that mistake anybody?)

Hope this helps.

Here is the pic, I think it is a custom lot, the pollution is off the richter scale at 60000, up from 5, that doesn't happen in an almost totally clean city

Well, while I did predict the cheetah speed part correctly, I definitely say bugged lot. So now the question is what is the lot. Do you have any industry in this city? Also, look at the pollution city view stuff and try to narrow down the pollution to its source. Once you find the source, figure out where you got it from, and please let us know here. You may want to look closely at any lots you downloaded from the official SC4 exchange at EA's website, since they are known for such problems.

So I went through all the recently downloaded plugins, and nothing changed, then took all my plugins out and nothing changed...Is there anything else I can do? I'm getting kinda frustrated and am thinking about deleting the city. There is no smog in my other cities at all...

It may take time for the smog to clear up, bugged lot there are not. Also, something just occurred to me, but did you recently install any air cleaning mods or lots that you may have placed into this particular city?
