Oops, thats not looking good... 15.gif

Never seen that before, a city and region view overlay at the same time?

Really I dont know what could have happened, are you running RushHour/Deluxe, what system specs, any mods/plugins etc?

Were any programs running while saving? That can cause unvanted glitches at least in XP, but Vista I dont know.

Good luck anyway hope someone can help you out here.. 4.gif

    I had my SimCity 4 work on my Vista Home Basic laptop, however since it is a home basic there is no Windows Aero included. My suggestion: go to Program Files>Maxis>SimCity 4 Deluxe>SC4.exe or something, right click and go to properties, open the compatibility tab, and set compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2.

    You will probably need to adjust the graphic options the game starts with; there is a good tutorial here about how to add parameters to the game short-cut.

    Also try setting the affinity of the game to the first core: Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the taks manager after the game loaded; switch to the process tab & find the SimCity 4 process; right-click & select Set Affinity..

    != And adding "-d:DirectX -CPUCount:1"  like this: ""D:\Games\Sim City 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -w -d:DirectX -CPUCount:1 to play with only one Core!!!!(u don't need to add directX). This fix a lot of simcitys vista problems ;)

    Edit: Sorry for :D you know what it means just type :D with a bigD

    Fixed the smilie thingy,

    well I figured it out (forgot to add a space in the shortcut target, duh).

    But can I still not run it normally run it in fullscreen mode with my PCs config on vista? It feels very awkward running it in windowed mode.

    -w = Windowed Mode. There's a full tutorial right here; but the short version is: at the end of the shortcut.

    sicarim:

    I am guessing your new computer came with a widescreen monitor.  So you need to set a widescreen resolution.  Here is an example syntax:

    "C:\Program Files\Games\simcity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1440x900x32 -f -intro:off

    f = full screen
    r = resolution

    You need the -f added for full screen, after you have run the game in windowed mode.
    Make sure you use a resoluftion that your monitor can display.
    You need to run the game from the shortcut at least once for the new resolution to take effect.

    Hi guys, Window is not a user friendly operating system .I think windows vista is not a good operating system because the chances of error is more when we are at work like we are installing game or any other software. Thanks. NYK Make Money

    Absolute balderdash, Poppycock at its best. Every OS is only as good as the user handeling it. When you mix an old game that has never been updated with a new OS which has gone through several iterations since the game came ought, certain precautions & tweaks are in order. Fail to observe these, and errors happen. Fumbling around will only compound them.

    SC4 works fine under Visto or XP, dual, quad or single core. All you need is to tell the game what it is dealing with.
