It's been about a week since I've posted here. Anyway...

Ever since I started making Asian cities in SC4 (which I don't even do much anymore), I desperately wanted Shinjuku Station from Tokyo. Finally I gathered up the courage to do it, starting today. BATs back to Asia (for now)! So far I've managed to make the first wall of the northwest building group at the station, as well as a taller connected part that shows a big billboard and is also used as a roofjunk/ventilation area. Here is my progress:

I know I can finish it. It will be an ambitious project, but with the right sources and attention, I think I can pull it off.

Oh, and by the way, Nowe Szcoty is going to export sometime tonight. Peace 2.gif

Wow a very ambitious project from you Nihon! I look forward to it and maybe even some Tokyo skyscrapers too! Ahh  Odakyu, brings back so much memories, the train that passed my house those many many years ago.

That's a very promising start. The textures are really great and the roof junk on top of the tower is just awesome. Can't wait to see more.

The modeling is looking good and so are the textures.  But I think as the model progresses you'll need to start doing some heavy tweaking of the color of the textures to make the large expanses of grey look correct in the game.

Aside from that of course a better lighting rig and better use of materials would improve this A TON.  The lighting would really make the large flat surfaces more dynamic, and especially the more complicated mechanical areas.  And for materials, I'm sure there's something nice you could do with the cloth (?) and metal in the mechanical penthouse.  And while the default lighting rig doesn't handle anything particularly well, it really doesn't handle angles very well.  I know I say this a lot though, heheh.

Yellow probably isn't what you want. Go into the game and find a Maxis building whose walls are the same material as yours, and take a screenshot and take it into Photoshop and see what the actual color is (it's probably some kind of pink-purple-blue ish color).

SimFox would have more specific things to say about materials. Details like ripples on the bitmap could be good, but I'm thinking more of the material characteristics itself. Cloth has different light-related characteristics than concrete or metal or glass.

What might be good for the metal deck, is for there to be a regular roof underneath, with the roof junk on that, and then an elevated metal catwalk making paths on top of the roof. But I don't really know what exactly goes on in those penthouses, so I don't know what would be the most realistic.

But yeah, a better lighting and material treatment would really improve this a lot.

I can already see from the given ammount, Of detail's, that this will turn out to be another great adition to the scarce trivial Mysterious world, That is japanese batting. 4.gif

Hey man, What's up, Are you still going to be doing another shinjuku park tower, I'm not trying to saying anything bad or anything but The scale is way off man, I had to raise then flatten the land just for it to be Alot taller, As you know it is the 2nd tallest tower in tokyo.. But yea i was just wonder, Still an awesome BAT though, Haha, just a little constructive critisism

Good luck on your current one man!

Hey rpastrac. Thank you for being a fan of my bats. Firstly make sure that you don't doublepost, instead 'edit' your posts. Also make sure that the thread you're posting in is still active (ie, the last post being no more than one to two weeks ago. I've become inactive here at Simtropolis because I've been very busy with university and of course life. I just got back from Florida, and one of my friends who knows this site told me that I should check out this thread.

Well unfortunately I completely lost all of my models in a computer crash - now I know to save room on the hardrive, hehe. I don't have much time to be active, but when I do, I'll be sure to remake them and release them.

looks promising ... only criticism is maybe a little less roof junk might be better ... otherwise keep going.

Believe in only what you can prove.
