    Introduction to Grand Falls

This will be our next update and I thought a little historical introduction would be interesting and welcomed. There's quite a story to that county that Mr Jim bought for his retirement activity very long time ago. Let's get something straight here also, this is not a town or a city, it is a privately owned Natural Park.
Although Jim was in his late 60's when he acquired this part of the Ganoga Valley, the Entrance as some call it, he had enormous and longlasting plans for it. Loving the wilderness and the amazing flora and fauna of the valley, Jim was lucky to buy a part of the valley in the earlier years, when it was still possible to do so. Only a handful of personalities had that chance. Today the whole Valley is under the law of the Natural Protection Plan (NPP) of the Federal Administration Office in New Saphire, (pronounced Nu-Saffeer) the new Capitol City of Genesis.

Jim had a dream for this land, a dream to make it possible for everyone to see and enjoy a part of this mysterious valley that actually did not have any public access area at that time. Still today only scientists and biologists are regular visitors to the deep of the valley, since much mystery is left behind the curtains of Ganoga. Grand Falls was the ideal place to show the beauty of the Valley. So he built himself one beautiful and big Mansion on top of the cliff, being the right man for it, overlooking one third of the Ganoga Reserve. The falls that were on the right side of his mansion, were intermittant, delivering water only in the early springtime at the melting of the snow. But that was changed with a lot of ingeniosity, patience, labour and money when Grand Dam was built to serve the entire region with a lot of hydro-energy.

North of Grand Falls, up high in the mountains lies the Ice Lake, a very deep depression that collects a lot of water from the Northern Mountains and then suddenly empties it into two directions when warmer temperatures arrive, south to Grand Falls and east to Grand Dam. That Meltwater was dammed in Grand Dam for the use to produce electricity. But when the Dam broke some decennies ago, things changed and water wasn't necessary in Grand Dam city anymore. Only enough to produce the drinking water and have the little river filles during the year was kept, the other half was sent to Grand Falls, which of course now had water running there all year around. Something that Jim just loved.

Before, the valley was filled with water coming from the mountains so quick that the bottom roads were inondated everytime. This was quite costly to repare every year, so the road was abandonned at one time and the valley left on its own again. It was also about the same time when a triple murder of scientists occured in the unknown regions of the deeper valley.

Jim lived up to his late eighties, but unfortunately never found the time to finish his dream. What he achieved were the whole plans and what you saw on the last picture that I showed you a couple of days ago, the beginning of the construction. His two sons and daughter took over his Construction Company at that time, which still today thrives as one of the best known Mansion Construction Company on Genesis. While his two sons argued about the futur of their father's project after his death, Jim's daughter took things into her hands and started what today is called the Grand Falls Resort Hotels. Jim's dream was once again on the way to be realized and within 5 years, a lot of labour and money, the project was finalized.

The Grand Opening of the Natural Park Vacation Center was only 12 years ago and it was an instant success.

When Jim's daughter married the son of the famous Kevin Slayer from Skinner (remember the Slayer Party?), Steven Slayer, their children formed the now existing Park Vacation Company and it is entirely run by the family. A castle like Hotel was built as the main attraction and many others followed shortly after. Now they have a few thousand rooms available for all the people that want to enjoy a part of the Valley's natural beauties, whether it is for a week, month or months or only for a night or two. Surely you'll enjoy your stay. Guaranteed they say.
I do not want to reveil too much of the story before the actual update, but let me tell you, that last year only, during the period of 12 months, Grand Falls Park had more than one and half a million visitors. Figure that out by yourself how much that makes in Simoleons as revenu for the family.

Now, here is a view of the Grand Valley as in the region with the surrounding counties. You can clearly identify the Ice Lake on the top right surrounded by the snow and the river flowing downwards to the falls, which also can be seen in the center of the picture. The falls have been entirly reformed and visiting the highest falls of Genesis is today made easy and for everyone.

    GrandFallsAerial2.jpg

And here's another Teaser. A close up of the small river flowing from the falls to the Ganoga Lake. The whole area is one big vacational park. If you take a very good look at the river, you may see some red salmons hovering in the current here and there, a fisherman's paradise.

    GrandFalls-creek.jpg

Have a nice weekend. I will be back later next week with the actual update of Grand Falls. Hope you enjoyed this teaser as much as I did creating it.......lol

Well thanks Rayden! I can't wait, I say, if you can't beat it, join it.

Nice update fred! I would really love to see Nexis City but seeing Grand Falls is such a pleasure. It cannot be compared with Nexis City because Nature is always more beautiful than the Urban sights. I would love to see the close up view of the Grand Falls and the hotel. Keep up the good work Fred!

ok then, here are some more teasers to drool on.............3.gif...Enjoy and imagine what it is like.

Here's another regionview of the falls. It shows you the depth and length of these falls and why they are called *Grand Falls*.

    GenesisGrFallsview.jpg

The top of the falls neighboring the Ice Lake County, where all the water comes from. The Falls have been tamed and organized so there ain't  any inondation accidents anymore.

    GrandFalls-Teaser3.jpg

Someone of known origin hunts on these lands near the falls, as a brother in law of Jim's family, but who is it? (from a well known family that moved out west when civilization needed room for city-expansion) Do you know who?

    GrandFalls-Teaser2.jpg

One of the greatest attraction at *Falls-Land* is the golfcourse that has the most spectacular surroundings, the river, cliffs and the falls. This beautiful and all natural habitat of course attracts people from everywhere.

    GrandFallsTeaser1.jpg

Sorry, but the official update will only be ready sometime next week and also sorry for not showing more of Grand Falls with details. Keep on drooling......lol 3.gif

Have a nice weekend and leave a note while you're here. Thanks.

    wow, 1 comment....lol....Thanks Leech10, much appreciated....really. 4.gif

    Grand Falls.....................The End Part 10

Here is Grand Falls, finally. Sorry for being late . We have discussed not only the history of it in the last update, but also about what has happened in the last 50 years, but today we will get to know it more visually and in details.
Grand Falls is one of the three (east) entrances of the Ganoga Valley, which actually is not yet open to the public everywhere, but here in Grand Falls it is and for a small part only, and also almost the most beautiful part of the valley where the big waterfalls come down from the Ice Lake up north.
As we know, this was Jim's county and now mostly still belonging to the family of his descendence. Jim bought this just a few years before his retirement to make a public park of the untouched nature first and then his son had the idea to make a touristic attraction out of it, respecting the natural environment at the same time as his ather always wanted.
When Barby's vacational Center in Gloryville was sold after her death and then got bankcrupt with the new owners, Jim had the opportunity to open a new and different Vacational Center, which had sofar a lot of success while being accessible to everyone.
First I will show you an Overview of the entire township of Grand Falls and then we will go into the details. Grand Falls was called so by the Administration office because of the immensity of the waterfalls that appeared every spring at the time of the snow melting, and every since Mr Jim acquired this area, the falls were tamed and cultivated, so to speak. Coming down from several hundred of meters above the valley, the falls are the biggest and most beautiful ones of the region.

The Science Center was the first building that appeared on top of the mountain. It was used as the entrance to the Ganoga Valley and also to study its mysteries. And it surely will continue to do so for many years to follow.
Then came Mr Jim. He bought almost a third of the valley, including the cliffs and the falls (the north-east part). A residential project of Grand Dam followed in the western part of the county and a campgound was founded to enjoy the cold waters of the valley, which later transformed into cabins and cottages for lease. Although the Grand Falls castle wasn't Jim's idea, his son built it to offer the best in hotellery and lodging around

    1grandfallsviewkr1.jpg

The covered bridge was built so that the swollen river would never touch it ends in the spring, but everysince the falls were tamed and controlled, that will never happen now. The bridge is the limit of Jim's family's posession on the bottom of the valley. The rest is still most under gouvernmental administration.

    2GrandFalls-view2.jpg

Who has never visited the Science Center and never had a field trip of the valley when they were young on Genesis? Almost every elementary and High-school student probably has visited this area at least at one time in their lifes. Still today schoolbusses  come almost everyday to open the valley to the youngsters. Here learning about the nature and its functions is being showed live.

    3GrandFalls-ScienceCenter.jpg

As I said earlier, some of Jim's descendences still live here in Grand Falls, where he himself spent his last years. Others live out in the city, mostly the younger generation. Living on top of the cliff weren't their dream I suppose.

    4GrandFalls-family.jpg

It took Mr Jim his last seven years of his life and his son almost another ten years to have this project see the daylight. Many Genesians died during the years of taming the falls, construction the castle and the park, but once finished , it was and still is appreciated by many thousands of citizens and tourists from all over Genesis, Mahoon and Uru every week.

    5GrandFalls-view3.jpg

Here is the Park entrance. At the right is the Tavern, where you can eat and drink to your liking and taste the best foods around. It is owned by one of Bucky Garfield's descendences, who owns the Garfield Hotels in all the major cities.

    6GrandFalls-entrance.jpg

The golfcourse, although not very big, is one of the nicest to play. Two swimming pools are also there to offer a relaxation in warmer waters. The upper one is only for registered customers of the castle and the lower one is open to the general public. Also near the castle you can rent a boat or canoe and see the falls close up or take a ride downriver to the Ganoga Lake. But only the *Lady of the Falls*, a semi-submersible boat with many glass around it is able to get very close and even just under the falls. Four trips a day that last approx 1 hr each will keep you remembering the adventure. The boat will even go downstream a bit to show the members the red salmons that come up the river to feed.

    7GrandFalls-Golf.jpg

*Le Château des Grandes Chutes*, the Grand Falls castle by night. Built by Jim's oldest son, it is today run by Jim's Grand-daughter. Here you can rent a room or more for a weekend, a week or even a whole month. Three Hotels have been built after Mr Jim dies and all belong to the family, but it is the *Château* that is the best known in the region.

    8GrandFalls-NightCastle.jpg

Just outside the Jim's terrains, a small lot was bought up by one of the Sven family (Mr Sven's Grandson) sometime ago and it started as a Camping ground in the beginning. Only a few years back, the landscape was changed with building small cabins for vacationers on the Ganoga Lake. The Cabins are rented on a weekly basis and you have to reserve them almost a year before to make sure that some of them are free.

    9GrandFalls-Cabins.jpg

Approximately 13 years ago, the Administration office in New Saphir decided to dezone some natural terrain in the Valley and offer it to the public. It took only 20 minutes and all lots were sold at a very high cost. With this income , a road leading deeper into the valley was granted to give a chance for the scientists to access the deeper valley now faster and easier. Of course, taxes are high and these are used to keep the access road in good condition. Only a handful residential lots were offered.

    10GrandFalls-res.jpg

To honour the fallen workers that have died during the construction of the falls, Jim's family has built a cross at almost the top of the falls. At the same time this is accessible to the general public without going through the gate. The other statue is a symbolic matter for the protection of the valley and was erected by the Administration office in New  Saphir. More than 1 million visitors have been counted every year to come up here and admire the view of the falls and the valley.

    11GrandFalls-FallsCross.jpg

Here is a picture of the upper falls, not accessible to the general public yet. The terrain has to be secured first. The natural surroundings were and are mangaged by the Association of Natural Habitat (ANH) which have some thousand members of the University of Gloryville.

    12GrandFalls-UpperFalls.jpg

And a last picture of the natural world of the Grand Falls river that empties into the Ganoga Lake to later empty itself into the Tenzel River near Raging River Junction out west. Sometimes you can see, if you look very closely, some red freshwater salmons in the river, feeding. Of course fishing is not allowed in the river, but the lake is open for the anglers. The submersible boat * Lady of the Falls* will take you to the fish and the falls to have a closer look at the downcoming water from Icelake.

    13GrandFalls-NatureRiver.jpg

Hope you liked the Grand Falls adventure. The next time we will go back east and visit the former Capitol City of Genesis, also the fourth biggest City and the oldest of them all. Here history is taken seriously, it was the first landing point of the Urulians, many, many years ago. It will be quite different from today's update.
This update will be made in four to six smaller updates, just like Axis City, because there's simply too much to show and talk about, besides it will have the most of any our celebrities living there. I will start of with the general history of Gloryville in our first update in a week or so. Meanwhile please leave a comment and enjoy the story of *NoG* (Nexis of Genesis)

    Have a nice week.

    mrbisonm 2.gif

Edit: If by any chance you didn't see the red salmons, they're on the last picture on the top right and they are in the water.

Nice update there Fred! I'm amazed on how the park has been made. Although the park made the area un-natural and the taming of the falls made it look like un-grandlike but still it's nice! It looks good as a resort! Can't wait for Gloryville's ending. please show us some teaser pics!

crazychickensc12, superchad and Leech10, Thanks for being here a lot of times and helping me by encouraging.

Goin2Chicago, it ain't that hard to do, all you need is the CD terrain mod and a little patience to lower the terrain at the right depth and you will get this wonderful riverground effect. Of course I added some things like waterplants and logs with the mayor mode and the salmons with MS-paint.

cowcorn, glad you dropped in again, hope everything's fine with you in MTL, with all that crazy stuff going on there.

Rayden, with my connection (56K that acts like a 28K sometimes) I wouldn't know if ST is having problems......lol...Glad you dropped in.

Charles Rodulfo, you're right that the untouched nature of Grand Falls has been retouched a lot, but if Maxis would have only made real waterfalls and downhill rivers, that would have changed the whole scene. You wanted some teaser pics?......hm...........how about these?

This will be the next update and it probably will be either the biggest or the second biggest updates of them all.

Gloryville is the former Capitol City of Genesis, therefore containing a lot of stuff and information, mostly history. Some of the most important celebrities are living /or have been living here, like Alexander MacVicar, Vallen and Troy Nexis, Sherlock Holmes IV, Miss Barby , Chad Benson and Daniel Henderson, just to name a few. It will be quite an update, believe me.

Here is a first teaser picture of the whole region of Gloryville, today the second in size and fourth by population.

10 subdivisions belong to Gloryville today and many of these other counties don't even exist anymore, like Axis South, where the northern part goes to Axis City and the Maincity to Gloryville. Nothing bearing the name of Axis South anymore.

    1. The eastern part of Round Lake Junction

    2. Everything south of the Tenzel River of South Axis

    3. A good part of Tenzel Outlet

    4. White Sands complete

    5. The western half of Three Towers

    6. Fallow

    7. Everything north of the Nexis River once belonging to New Sholes

    8. Bolton complete

    9. The military installations of Atlas

10.And finally the original City of Gloryville, where this whole story of *NoG* once started.

This will give us a lot to say and show.

    GloryvilleTeaser.jpg

...and just for the *please* in your demand Charles Rodulfo, here's a part of Gloryville (together with the Central Park) that wasn't invaded by Skyscrapers yet, now called Barby's Hills.

    Gloryville-Teaser1.jpg

Thanks for dropping in folks and enjoy.

Oh that one will be good! And for Montreal... well it's a very big city so it takes a lot to make it stop. The only thing that affected my life consequent of the Dawson shootings is that I can't meet any representant from the Concordia student union, wich I have to meet for my new occupation. The CSU offered their help and support to the Dawson students so they are quite over their heads at this moment.
