Hey, how's it goin'? This is where I'll post roughdrafts and doodles of my projects. "Critiquing" are always welcome.

Currently In Progress: Project XXIII

----------------------------------------------

Influence: Chicago Spire (Santiago Calatrava), Egyptian

Things left to do:

  • Finishing the base*
  • Finishing the top
  • Adding Textures
  • Refining Textures
  • Adding nightmaps
  • Adding additional lights

*A work in progress...

Well, that's all for now, folks. Any ideas and/or criticism will be greatly appreciated. Have a great night.

Interesting. Not really my tastes though, and I wonder how much usable space there is in that building.

It's definitely looking good so far. From here before doing the other things maybe, I would model more details, to give a better sense of scale to the building. Just looking at it the way it is right now, I feel like each of those blades are only about 2 meters tall, when they're probably supposed to be 4 or 5 meters tall (assuming each blade is supposed to be one story). This type of design is probably supposed to be pretty minimal, but I think you should try and find places to add details. Things like railings can help a lot because people have a good sense of how big a railing is, and will subconciously get a better sense of the size of the building, in reference to the handrails.

Another suggestion would be to change the glass material. I'm not super familiar with these materials, but I think if you change the reflection to fresnel instead of a pure reflection number, the level of the reflection will change according to the angle between the camera and the object that the glass is applied to. Since your building has so many curves and angles it would look nice if the properties of glass changed along with the curves how it should.

Howdy. Well, it's been a little over a week without any updates or replies and yes I'm very sorry about that. Was going to post something before thanksgiving but unfortunately time flew and I had to enjoy my holiday lol. Anyway, hope ya'll stuffed yourselves to death with food and had a good thanksgiving heh.

Ferrariguy1000: Why thank you. I started texturing some parts of the model. I still need to tweak it and test it a bit.

Scipio: I respect that. Nevertheless, I'm assuming that elevators plus the core of the building will take up a lot of space. So, there will be just enough amount of space per floor but the height should compensate for the lack of space.

Jasoncw: Actually they are around four meters apart or 3.5 meters to be precise excluding 0.5 meters from the floors' thickness. The thick outer skeleton structure or the blades and the slight offset with each turn are probably causing that illusion. But yes I see what you mean now that you mention it.

For the glass material, I applied fresnel and did a test render. I don't know why but the colors bleed in some parts of the render especially, where the brightness is the strongest. I have a feeling that it's caused by the transparency mask but I'll take a look at it.

Now, before I go, here's an update for ya'll folks. Enjoy.
