Hm, just a wild guess, but a large plugin-folder and low RAM might cause it.. Remember to defrag frequently!

Have you tried pause the game, wait a few sec and then tried saving? Or try the shortcut [ctrl] and ?

Hope this helps! 4.gif

Ps: I`m not sure but I think increasing virtual memory might help as well if you low out on RAM...

I use no mods nor have a plugin folder of any kind and it still happens to me,  ive made it a habit of saving every 15 minutes.

Do you hear a weird drilling sound when it freezes?

I think it happens when a reward pops up right as you save, because you need to click the "OK" button to advance. Not sure though.

It happened to me again last night!  I just got done building a huge residential suburb, and I was so into what I was doing, I forgot to save.  It froze up on me and I lost everything!  I took my mouse and slammed it down so hard I broke it.  Now I have to go out and buy another mouse before I can resume recreating what I initially had done!!  26.gif

Hi, everyone,

I think Geronimo is right--sometimes when a lot of work has been done in the game before saving, or you have a large tile that is getting pretty developed, a lot of memory intensive content such as seasonal trees, large plugin folder, etc, etc, the game runs your computer short of resources and crashes during the save process.  Sometimes I use the ctrl-alt-s shortcut.  It saves the city without updating the region thumbnail, which takes a bit less.  So if you've been working awhile without saving, this might be a less crash-likely option.  But I'd seriously hate to be wrong and cause you to destroy another mouse, Dizastrow2.gif

Enjoy the game.

Thanks LIVIN IN SIM!  LOL!! I feel very foolish when I get upset and break things like that.  I have also been known to throw Playstation controllers across the room and proceed to blurt out a string of cuss words that causes me to shut off the game I am playing and not return to it for a few days.

ok - two things - in my years of simcity playing - I have come across this a million times - just pause the city before saving!

also - it can take a while to save big cities - several minutes even.
