What's going on here? My RCI demand is on the fritz for no reason! What you see there is the whole settlement so I don't know what the heck is going on! I don't have any sort of demand mods either. They won't build any houses!

Help!

Well for one, i can tell you that the High Wealth Commercial is wrong because you have only playing the city for two years. All i can say is just try and build the industry and then the residential should be building, hope that helps?

I'd consider moving those farms. They might be stopping some sims from moving in. Although, low wealth sims usually don't mind the smell of manure in the morning! Your graph does look a tad unusual to my eye though. I have no idea why. Try satisfying some of that high commercial demand by building a small strip. Also build a little bit of industry a little distance from your residential zones. I reckon it should snowball from there.

You are getting demand form neighbouring cities. With a few exceptions, all RCI demans during this short a period look mostly the same (not like yours).

My first thought as well. If this is your first and only city in the region, then you definitely have either a really whacked mod or a bug. First try removing all plugins and see if everything returns to "normal." If not, then aside from "obliterate and start over" I wouldn't know what to tell you. I had that happen on a new city in a new region once before, if there was another solution I don't know what it was. But with nothing in it, was less painful than spending possibly hours looking for a solution that might not even exist anyway.

If you have other cities in the region... well that changes things. Demand is regional - negative demand for residents means you already have more than enough workers to satisfy the existing jobs in the region. Likewise sky-high demand for jobs means you don't have enough jobs in the region to satisfy the current residents in the region.

Another possibility in either case - check your taxes. While demand is regional, it can be influenced locally within each city by some factors, taxes usually being the most dramatic. Super-high taxes in one city can drive demand negative in that city even if the regional demand is high.

If you do that, try putting in a few parks in their place next to the residential zones. That gets sims to build in my cities sometimes4.gif
