I need help!

I've been playing a medium size city for 30 sim years and the RCI demand was normal.

Now for some strange reason it has risen to max (for RCI) causing a lot of rich, large sized houses (villas) to appear. That's in my suburban city... While in my large cities, new and ugly skyscrapers are starting to build...Things have just gone out of control...

Can anyone help me?

Your land wealth has increased drastically. Decreasing the wealth of the areas you want to have lower wealth at is what you need to do here. In your large cities, zoning with the medium/high density zones will cause higher buildings. (Low density zones also allow small apartments and condos)

yes but that doesn't explain why the RCI demand changed in my suburban city, which I've been playing for 30 sim years (RCI demand was always steady).

sometimes sims are just CRAZY for suburban cities - try to put way more in the inner city and attract sims there.sometimes its annoying in the suburbs because its hard to make them for this reason - but the sims are moving in there instead of the inner city - so work on the inner city - it can help a bit.but once again - sims are just crazy for the burbs.
