Hello all, and welcome to my little space in the Mapp Squad Team! This will serve as my showcase for all the maps I create. I am honored to be part of the team guys, thanks for letting me join.

I am sort of new to map creating, so all comments and suggestions are welcome, as they help me create better and more usable maps for the STEX . My website also has larger images of the regions and downloads to accompany the STEX . My style of maps is taking the lesser know areas of the world via USGS data, and creating realisticesque (i know, i made that one up, lol) maps for use on the STEX . I take random shots from the USGS data and render them into usable regions in SC4. If you ask where exactly the places are, I most likely wont be able to tell you, although, I do enjoy creating some maps from real known cities too.

Below is the first region I am creating. It is a higher elevation city with two mountain ranges surrounding a usable area for development. It's config bmp is 8x8 large cities for maximum space and development.

Mylos_thumb.jpg

This region is still under development as you can see where the cities edges are, there are still some fixes needed for the flow of the region.

All comments again, are welcome and wanted. Thanks for letting me join!!! And Enjoy!!!

<edit> can the mods please correct the title of this thread. It did that multiple apostrophe thing again to me. hmmm.... Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Mapp Squad, I need your help.  The region above is having some issues. I went in an edited the region jpeg, and still cant fix the problem. The lines that show up in between the cities isn't going away. I have rendered it ingame too, but I know thats not going to help anything to get it onto the STEX. So any help is appreciated. Thanks!

OK!!! I have my first release for the Mapp Squad. It is not Mylos though, that is pending at the current time. I have created a region called Limtos. It again, is a random spot of data taken from USGS data.

The region is made up of all large cities, the dimensions are 5x5. So that makes it 25 large city tiles, giving you enough room to grow and develop. I like to use 5x5 the most because it gives you a central city tile, surrounded by 24 other large city tiles giving you maximum development with a central city locale.

Casper 3141 : Thanks for you comment, I think I may just release it as is, but you will notice that when you load the region, it will show up with almost ditch like crevices in between each city, it is very easily fixable with the god mode tools as you work along in the city. Again, thanks!!!

That looks really great! Perfect for those that like desert regions 1.gif It's a shame SC4 doesn't render city edges better - I always have trouble with creeks and small rivers at the edges because of how it handles it - using large city sizes minimizes the problem, but it can be frustrating...

OK!!! I am currently working on a scale region of the city of Davenport Iowa and the surrounding area. I am using USGS data to make this creation. Below is a satellite picture of the area I plan to map.

    davenportsat.jpg

This is the area planned. I am going to try and make it as accurate as possible. So any suggestions and comments are welcome, I will post pics of the preliminary rendering soon, most likely within the next hour or two.

i got some bad news, i accidently deleted my regions folder as i was working on portland. its not like it matters though, i decided not to continue with this map. I am going to be creating another fictional map. Im bored with looking at the same maps all the time of real places. i am going to be creating some amazing maps(to me anyways) here in the next few days, so keep an eye out for them!
