Is using the "valley" tool in  God Mode the only way you can terraform water?  Is there another tool that lets you construct rivers, ponds, etc??

In God Mode there is also the lower terrain tool where you can lower the land below 'sea level' to create water features.  You could also use the level land tool.  Just drag the curser in 'Level Land' mode from an existing water feature to a land area.  This will make the land level below the water line.

The 'Lower Terrain' and 'Level Terrain' tools are also available in the Mayor mode.  However they are expensive to use in this mode.

You must know that water is NOT and can NOT be tooled, but the terrain around it . Therefore any tool used to lower any terrain will show water at the waterlevel.

There is teirusu's rainmod that will add water to higher elevations, but unfortunetly it cannot be saved.

If you have internet only in school, next time bring along a cd, download the things you need and burn it, bring it home and install on your home'puter. That is what my Grandson does all the time.

    Hope that helps

i started a region of water and then used the Messa (i think thats what its called) to raise a platform of land in the water, then once i got the height i wanted i used the Quick Level Brush, press shift + 1 to make the circle smaller, then this levels off the rest of your terrain to the height of whatever piece of land you click

    hope that helps

I guess this is the one thing Im dissapointed with since having bought SimCity 4.  All other versions, water was easily found and placed.  Its very hard in this one.  Oh well, I love the rest of the game!!  Thanks to all

    Hi All,

First post here.  I started with SimCIty Classic and have fooled with it for *years*!  Several months ago I dusted off the Simcity 3000 cd and gave that a whirl.  Now I am on Simcity 4.

I have a SC4 water question and the clearest way to ask it is to compare it against SC3K where if you are in waterpipe mode, you then click on Landscape and then you see all the terrain contours and can then raise, lower or level even terrain that is underwater *without* the water being shown and obscuring your view.

Is there a way to do this in SC4?  Hotkeys?  I can get into pipe mode fine and see even underwater terrain without water in the way but as soon as I click on Landscape, the water comes back and I get to terraform blind underwater.

Why is this important?  Well it is not crucial but for instance I ran a subway line out to an island but the terrain was too steep so I had to fumble blind then check in pipe mode, then go back.  Why can't it be like SC3k?  :-)

    Thanks!

    Ron
