when I zoom out in mayor mode the cars don't show up.But when i zoom out a little bit the cars are there?dose anyone know how to fix this??????

At what zoom levels do the cars appear and when do they don't appear? After you zoom out a certain distance, the cars disappear. Some props also have this behaviour.

Welcome to the conversation.

Back up in this thread a bit, and I think you'll find what you need. You might want the current version from the STEX, though.

Having cars constantly appear and dissapear does get kind of annoying at times, however in mayor mode, wait a while with this mod and the suburbs turn like rush hour in L.A.

I am fine with the constant reappearing and dissapearing in normal gameplay but I would like to see more persistant automata in the U-Drive it. Just enough to feel realistic and not too much of suddenly dissapearing in front of me but rather mostly spawn off screen to avoid the occasional garbage truck out of nowhere blowing me to peices in the middle of the mission. :dead:

I hope this is even possible.

I think this mod I found over at simcity.cn will be helpful, as im currently using and the cars don't constantly dissapear. Apparently it makes cars only disappear when they have reached there, destination i think, although im not sure. You cna try it and see if it works for you. (Linky) - btw registration is required to download and see the stuff

If you have lots of CPU/GPU cycles I see nothing but good from extending the automata persistence. They really don't have much to do with the simulation, however.

Google translate is the first thing I can think of...

But yes a direct link or English translation would be best.

The mod is not exactly what was discussed but if you want to travel in SimctyCN download Chrome and visit this pages to learn how to register there.

Or you could download the Persistent Automata Mod here on the STEX which does basically the same thing.

(I'm not concerned with the durability of user driven cars ... it's just obnoxious to have cars phase in and out so rapidly)

Sometimes at a destination yes . . . But frequently not.  I know it can be changed . . . Attached is a .dat with the "Automata Tuning Exemplar" (I'm using the name from the properties xml in the modding section of this site . . . If you have NAM installed, I know you need to take out the file "NetworkAddonMod_Automata_Plugin_*.dat").  It kinda solves the problem . . . Someone else try it out and let me know what you think.

-Walt

you could use the persistent automata mod. That is what i use. It prevents cars from fading, and makes it seem incredibly realistic.

Bear in mind that the graphic images of cars on roads have nothing to do with the simulation.  They are just fancy eye-candy.

I disagree. Seeing a lot of traffic alerts you to high road use / congestion. Crashes happen when roads are over capacity.

We should have a new term for this. Car collisions, maybe? :)

SimCity 4, it's not a game; it's a work of art.

I see it happened in a UDI mission.  Was it deliberate?  Was the intersection not controlled with stop lights?  What kind of Sims are you operating?  And it is still eye candy.

If it is not eye-candy, what was the effect on the simulation?

UDI is a different ball of wax.  It is a "stick-on" to the SC4 project forced in there by marketing.  It is not very well done.  Running UDI will normally slow down the program because is uses cycles that the simulator would otherwise use.

The stochastic simulator is volume bound.  As the universe of discourse (number of objects being simulated) grows you get closer and closer to the knee of the hyperbolic function that describes the processor usage.  Once you've crossed that knee you could wait forever for the simulator to complete one pass.

yeah. needed to upgrade the highway to multi-RHW! because that highway is the only access to the industral area. so they can build a traffic jam there.

I don't suppose you considered subway nor ground heavy rail along side your road?
