Create a region folder, and put the bitmap and jpeg in there. then, you play sc4, create a region, and type in same time: ctrl-alt-shift-r and you see a list

Find the jpeg picture for the region you want and double click on it. That will take some time. When it's done, you can freely play as much as you want.

Enjoy your region

Oh yeah and remember to put the file in the "My Documents" because it doesn't work if you put it in the Main folder

I'm not sure that most map's work for MAC. Most Maps uploaded onto the STEX has SC4 Terraformer as a dependency which you can't download on a MAC.

Whats a MAC? Like MAC address? 2.gif Its a Mac....not MAC 3.gif Just poking fun at you. You are right though, most maps do not work right. I usually use the jpg file and the bitmap to generate the region if they are provided. Even then you can NOT render a region with large cities for some reason. Not sure if its an Intel Mac thing or something, but I know that under certain conditions one can not. 15.gif

No, most maps do work. Just not many of the new ones. Let me give you a background... Mapping was very popular in the early days of SC4. Just have a look at the end of the STEX. Pages filled with maps that are able to be used on macs. And you say that not many of the maps work, well take a bit more of a look around.

unityx, I would think that you might have a problem with a plug-in, or something like that, because I can render large regions fine.

SimmyMaster read this, it will tell you how to install regions downloaded from the stex.

It's easy to tell if you can use the map. If you download a config.bmp and there is also a grayscale jpg contained within the STEX pics in the file, then you have yourself a map you can use. The color maps, no. Those are for Windows only.

Then read the link that Hamish gave you and you will be all set. 4.gif
