Centennial Province: An Interactive City Journal

I will attempt to do two CJ's at once, but pay much more attention to this one when i have time:

Welcome to the Centennial Province, home of the small town of Centennial which is seeing a boom in development. Centennial is a railroad built town, and was accessed by railroad in the early 1900's. A new Lowe's Home Improvment Distribution Center has provided 2,000 New Jobs for the Centennial Province. With the addition of the Distribution Center, it has added very special interest into the area, and is luiring more businesses into the area. The Province is partially a river valley, where the current town of Centennial is located. The Centennial Province CJ will be very similar to Virgin Shores, with members proposing new developments, and Centennial having its own Planning Commissioner, Mayor (Myself), DOT Leader, Utility Commissioner, and Health and Education Commission. All of these leaders are on the Centennial Committee, which decides the future of this Province. I hope you enjoy and i credit deathtopumpkins so much for having this great idea and letting me portray off of it! And in the coming weeks, we will have an election for the Commission leaders. So starts the interactive part. The Lowe's Distribution Center just opened and it is sparking dramatic growth in the province, especially in the Centennial City area. The town pictured is the town of Centennial, population 4,469. A small town in the Centennial Province was considered the major city across the Province. But now the Home Improvement Superstore Lowe's has opened a new Distribution Center providing Centennial with 2,000 new jobs. The new distribution center has set off new growth across the northern part of the Province. The new center is now luiring more businesses and residents to Centennial. 

If you have ever visited Virgin Shores, that is how Centennial will work. Once Centennial starts to grow, ordinances will be put into place, and the Centennial Committee will be placed. Elections will be coming this week, so if you are interested, be prepared for this coming week. If you are interested in developing, use one of the overview pictures above to point out and zone your development. Now the first part of this week i will be approving and looking over developments but after the first part of this week, the new Planning Commissioner will start to look over these new developments. That looks like a nice little town, and it's nice to see another person going the interactive route. I do have two suggestions though: A slope mod and some custom farms. I think with these additions your town would look a lot better.

I like the concept, and I would love to help out in the interactive part. I'm not quite sure how you suggest developments, so I'll either have to visit Virgin Shores or let someone else go first.

To propose a development, copy and paste one of the over view pictures or area pictures and use MS Paint or any program you can use to show where you want to develop, what you want to develop, and how you want to zone it. For Examples visit the Virgin Shores CJ because there is a number of examples that will show you what to do. 

And for anyone interested in the Election;

Summer-Fall 08 Election, Positions For:

CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE

- Planning Commissioner

  Must review plans of a proposed development and make sure they are appropriate and can be put into place into the propsal area. For more information on what the Planning Commissioner will do, PM psander5

- Health and Education Commissioner

  Reviews where schools and health facilites should be placed and what facilites need to be brought to the Province. For more information on what the H & E Commissioner will do, PM TimeMaster

- DOT Commissioner

 Reviews road proposals and manages roads and highways in the Province. Also approves Road Designs, and road infrastructure updates. For more info on what the DOT will do, PM Patricius Maximus

So, if you do propose a development, the order that it will be approved in goes as follows:

PROPOSAL > Planning > DOT > (H & E if necessary) > Mayor

Then if there is something that you would like me to plop, such as a Rite Aid or a Gas Station, or anything, put the link with your post and we, the committee will see to approve your development. 

ALSO-

 *NOTE: The Centennial Committee is also looking for a Director of Public Recreation and Safety, which would be managing parks and police centers. Looking at where parks should be needed and where police stations will be needed. 

  Remember for any examples, visit the Virgin Shores CJ.

If you are interested in running for any of the commissioner spots available, please post your Username, and what you would like to run for, and what you would do for the Province and what you plan on doing in that spot. Only two people are allowed to run for one position, so i suggest you be the first to post for that spot

Edit: edmonton_stinks; your development is approved and i also did some other development around it already, and added some landscaping to it. Once the election happens everyone will get more used to the process of what goes on, but anyways your building is approved.

nice update. now look at peoples cj's for ideas on farms but i think your farms are too similar and too boring.

you need to add complexity in them by makin them different shapes with trees in the gaps or beside the road.

but its good for now.

Patricius Maximus Appointed Senior DOT Advisor

I have gotten news from iamccman that I have been appointed to the position of Senior DOT Advisor. 

This means that I give reccomendations to the DOT commissioner, but they have little binding power on him/her. I accepted the position because I do not have the time to be a full-time commissioner, but I would also like to review the transit system and to improve it.

I may not be here as often as I am in Virgin Shores, but I will put this CJ in my favorites, and visit it as often as I can.

I look forward to working as Senior DOT Advisor.

Highway 10 is the Major Bypass that was built through the hillside and is seen going down past crazyarchitects development.

Now that Patricius Maximus is the Senior DOT Advisor, we no longer need a person managing the DOT because the Planning, Mayor, and Patricius are going to be discussing about this now. Sorry about that jlindley07! 

As for Developments, the Dept. of Health And Education needs to review the area and see if it would need a clinic or school. The Mayor keeps track of student enrollment and reports it to the H & E Commissioner. All development's must have a Name, exp; Towers Point. If it is just one development or building, it is not required to have a name. This is for subdivision purposes only. After elections i will be posting Health, Education, Safety, Fire Protection, and etc. Graphs.

I suppose the Planning can fill in for some of the DOT's duties. But be advised that I am not a full-time head, just the senior advisor.

With that in mind, I will give some advice .

I advise that the slopes be of a lower grade. I would advise downloading a moderate slope mod.

There is weaving on Highway 10 in between the ramps. Could they be inverted so that they could be kind of a parclo-like shape? Or perhaps it could be converted into a diamond.

Either way, this weaving needs to be fixed. I just can't stand it.

I would like to run for Department of Planning. I also have a proposal for new development. I forgot to label one part, it is medium-density residential. Also, the grey means streets.

Are we allowed to name the roads in our developments?
