A new BBC series makes use of satellite technology to create stunning images of Britain from above. Mark Sanders reports.

Andrew Marr presents the series Britain from Above, the first episode of which will be broadcast on Sunday 10 August at 2100 on BBC One.quote>

Not sure if you can all see the above vid, if not let me know.

About

Andrew Marr takes to the skies exploring Britain from above.

An epic journey revealing the secrets, patterns and hidden rhythms of our lives from a striking new perspective.

Join host Andrew Marr as he discovers how each and every one of us is interconnecting making Britain what it is today.

Britain looks very different from the skies. From a bird's eye view of the nation, its workings, cities, landscapes and peoples are revealed and re-discovered in new and extraordinary ways.

Cutting edge technology allows you to see through cloud cover, navigate the landscape and witness familiar sights as never seen before.

In a landmark series of documentaries - filmed in High Definition - spanning BBC One, Two and Four Britain from Above will change the way you see the nation forever.

This website allows you to watch all the films from the programmes, exclusive material including Rewinds through time at 16 different locations, Rough Cuts of magic moments and Behind the Scenes. You can also view more of Jason Hawkes' amazing aerial images in the Photography section.

although i think it's a bit scary how they can track everythingquote>

I don't think we should be, all the stuff they used can be easily provided by the ships, aircraft or the selected taxi drivers. The telephone and communication maps do not record your call, just the connections generated.

The website has some absolutely fascinating maps, videos and images.

The skies look so busy (Dublin to London is the world's busiest air route: FACT!) So, me being too able to find something to explain (after 3 clicks 9.gif ), is there actually a point to this or is it just...something interesting?
