okay, after installing sc4 deluxe on my computer again after my old harddrive bit the dust, I tried to remember all of my old mods and downloaded them to my plugins folder, used them in game, and all that good stuff. Of course, only after I get a bunch of cities going do I remember that there is an official patch that I was supposed to download. whoops. I went to the simcity 4 website and looked at the patch page, and it said it would not work on a modded game.

So, my question is, is there any way I can download the patch and have it work on my modded game without having to completely restart all of my cities?

Plugins don't directly edit the game files. Simply rename your plugins folder to something like Plugins1, install the patch, and afterward rename Plugins1 or whatever you named back to Plugins. The patch shouldn't mess up cities you've already built, even with plugins. Modded usually refers to having edited the game files, like SC1.dat or something. The installer for the patch compares the contents of the .dats. I think that this is so it dosen't delete stuff it shouldn't or corupt it, but it usually justs make harder to install the patch.

thanks, I ended up just cutting everything in my plugins folder to a temporary one, patching the game, and then putting the files back in.
