New Stex cd

Hi everyone. Recently my computer died because of a computer virus and I lost ALL of my 3 gigs of SC4 plugins that I have spent over 2 years downloading. Instead of downloading them all over again I was just planning on buying the STEX cds. But I know that the 2nd cd doesn't include the latest stuff that's been coming out on the Stex. Does anyone know about a 3rd STEX cd that's coming out?

all of your pc hardware died? even your hdd? maybe you still have a chance to recover your data. go with your pc at a local hardware service first

Sorry but I already tried that and they couldn't help me, so that's why I'm hoping for a new stex cd, because I'm still trying to reinstall everything that I lost.

Just a virus? A virus won't destroy all of your data unless it somehow causes hardware damage, and that's rare. Let me guess, you took it to some chavs like Geek Squad and they just assumed that your stuff was gone because the computer wouldn't boot or something? Trust me, those people are typically idiots. If you still have the computer and the hard drive, and the hard drive is OK and the data is intact, just burn something like a Linux Live CD, pop it into the CD drive, and you can begin extracting your personal files from there. Once done, put the CD(s) into a working system, scan the CDs with an anti-malware program and you can go from there.

As for a third STEX CD, I don't know. To be honest I kind of doubt there will be a third one. SimCity is getting pretty old and we also have sims like Cities XL coming out soon. Only time, dirk, or the team that works on the CD can tell.

Unless it erased all your data. You'd need more than just a Linux Lived CD - you'd need a knowledge of how to use it, and then software to get the data off, which I know wouldn't be installed on the computer, so you'd need another computer to do that.

Also, who said that the third STEX CD would just be for SC4? It could be for anything, including Cities XL if there's demand for it.

I mainly said that IF the data was still there. It's not too hard to navigate to to a drive in linux. And of course he would need another hard drive to put the data on.

Currently all that's here is SC4 content. If another STEX CD were to be for something like Cities XL it would be a while. Not saying it would never happen however.

Actually rebuilding a plugins folder is a good idea anyways.. most ppl have a much better idea of what they are about the second time around.. and also over the last 2 yrs there have been many changes and improvements.. though of course there still are a ton of "oldies but goodies"
