Commute problem

Hi all,

I got a question, but can't find a topic about it.
I searched the forum a little and tried the search bar also.

I always got the problem with empty buildings due to long commute time.
To try out why, I started testing with putting res. buildings and office buildings near each other.
Industry I put at the other side of the office building.

All seperated by just a street.
Map was like this (just to test)

Res
Street
Commerce
Street
Industry

Placed bus stops to test too, even if the route wasn't too long anyway.

After 2 months my Res buildings were empty due to long commuting time.

Does anyone knows a topic about this or got tips on it. Cause if it's allready on a little map, than it's going to be even worse on a large one.

Thanx in advance.

Peter

k it sounds really weird but there has to be simple solution. firstly if you have any plugins active you may want to disable them. if not you might have discovered a bug in the game. just to be sure you could reinstall and try again. you got my very limited ideas but good luck anyway.

    Thanx,

I tried other stuff too now and I kinda sorted it out.

I used a ploppable building that I liked and without any normal residential zoning, it was abanded due to the commute problem.

If I build the ploppable one and zone some normal res buildings, than it's ok.

So it was what I think a bug in the downloaded building.

    Thanx anyway.

If it was plopped residential, that's the problem - not sure if it's a "bug" but definitely a known issue, plopped residential can't generate traffic, so your would-be commuters can't get out. It's not any individual building, all plopped residential is affected by this issue. Solution: don't use plopped residential.

Ok ok, if you must... there have been some reports suggesting if you plop a residential building on top of an already-developed grown residential zone, it'll work. Maybe one of the folks who's tried that will happen by and provide more details.

First of all... Welcome to Simtropolis!! 39.gif

Plopped Residential are landmarks that contain residential or sims inside of them.

    I hope that clarifies it...
