ok we seem to be getting somewhere and thanks again for your contributions...well i've looked at the game file over n over and i couldn't find any conclusive evidence that pollution comes from residential buildings or parks etc. now simfox you are confident that pollution comes out of most buildings and what i see in my game completely agrees with you. the only problem now is how come there's nothing obvious in the game files that says this building produces this much pollution. that's what i ultimately wanna find out. i don't think the pollution problem is actually that big because i am using a mod to get rid of traffic pollution and i am building my cities seperately so residential is all by itself. now the problem might be small but please continue to help me and others get to the bottom of this. also if industry is easily quadrupled with a mod then shouldn't pollution be easily changed. that is the question lol.

i thought i would mention that the pollution in my residential city, if i query a building it says pollution is high even though the map says it is only low pollution. the data view in the game is pretty wrong anyway. aside from this i looked at the city info and it said pollution was like 80 (how did you get 120000 wizard looool). this value might be low compared to others but that's cause i thought i removed every aspect of pollution from the city. no traffic pollution, no power plants, no dirty industry or anything etc etc. anyway we really need to find out what is causing this and thanks for your contributions so far.

simcity 4 level 8 commercial skyscrapers

my knowledge of the building stages and necessary requirements is that you need about 30k or more of the specified wealth level before you see level 8 buildings for that wealth level. so if you got 30k of either CO$$ then you should see some stage 8 CO$$ buildings popping up. when you get about 120000 of a specified wealth level you will see the proportion of stage 8 buildings at it's highest, meaning most of the buildings for that wealth level will be stage 8. that's my knowledge of the building stages so hopefully i have helped you in some way -
can i fix the problem by changing any properties in the game files. cause if that is true then there must be a way to stop/control what it is doing. anyway thanks for your post. PS: i don't want to have to stop playing the game again because of a silly bug in the game stopping me from doing what i want looool.

the problem really has me stumbled and also thanks for your contributions and suggestions i know that a pollution eater would fix the problem and i reckon even placing the default parks (tennis courts etc) would remove some of the pollution, it's just how did the pollution get there? also it's a residential only city looool...now i've pretty much covered the description of the city, now to solving the mystery...i believe there's something causing this pollution (just like cars cause traffic pollution) and if it's a bug i still think that changing an option in the game file would solve the problem. any help would be really appreciated and thanks to all previous posters.

i've got an unusual problem...firstly i have a mod which removes traffic pollution, a mod to increase network capacities, speeds and commute time etc and i am building a region with 3 cities, one for each zone type. the funny thing is in my residential only city i got pollution like you never seen before and none is coming from traffic or anything like that. i was looking at the building exemplars one by one and i didn't notice any that produced any kind of pollution. on the other hand if residential buildings produced pollution...*****!!! ok so if anyone knows what is causing this i would appreciate any help thanks.

hey... i was looking for large capacity cs $$ growable downloads. if anyone knows where i can find some good ones i would really appreciate it thanks

i thought someone would of replied by now lol...

k it sounds really weird but there has to be simple solution. firstly if you have any plugins active you may want to disable them. if not you might have discovered a bug in the game. just to be sure you could reinstall and try again. you got my very limited ideas but good luck anyway.

i'm looking for large capacity CS $ & $$ buildings preferrably growable. if you can direct me where some good ones are on the stex i would really appreciate it. i want them so i can quickly fill the demand when necessary.

i just had to ask what the heck the values mean in the general > developer > residential $$$ exemplar or aka the exemplar changed by this mod. the default value 32 in hex that's 50, but bones strictly stated the "percentage" of desirability before growth or dilapidation is 20%. now i think i used to know how it worked but now i might need to be told how the percentage changes when you change the property in the exemplar???

stuck in 19k-20k sims in small city lonely in the region

i am sorry that i can't give a definite answer to solve your problem. all i can say is that from what you have said i think you have reached a "demand cap" of some sort. if you aren't getting anymore growth it is most likely because demand is low. if this is the case then you must place recreational buildings throughout your city. these buildings allow you to build past the default limit. if building recreational buildings fixes your problem, that's a bonus, otherwise you will need to probably show a picture of the city for further examination. hope this helps. -
i've been building a test city just recently and i have made a few findings. i have seen a few other peoples cities and even though i could not see abandonment/dilapidation problems, i did see no job zots thoughout the city. now in my city i get the same thing and eventually abandonment and dilapidation becomes noticeable. now the test city i created was not suffering from abandonment or dilapidation and you might have heard me saying earlier that i wasn't providing my cities with CS$ or DI. in this test city i basically did the opposite and there was no tax adjustments to any developer type. now i really noticed a difference in the amount of high wealth residents that weren't dilapidating. initial development was low wealth but as education increased the demand for better jobs went through the roof, resulting in a decline of poor jobs. this was a big difference compared to my other city because i was not providing CS$ or DI and abandonment was a massive problem. now the main focus i am trying to describe is that how can we create a city without ever having CS$ or DI present at all. i tried to create a city like this and eventually it just died and there was no more demand for offices or IHT. the abandonment didn't help things at all because the affected buildings were not helping my demand or my education. remember how i mentioned that abandoned buildings lose education benefits, please correct me if i'm wrong.

i thought i would mention that i'm not hiding much information. the region has 3 cities and yes one for each of the RCI. i mentioned earlier what is happening with the education. also if anyone thinks desirability is the problem i can assure you that the graph is perfectly green, even for R$$$. i am convinced that abandonment is the problem because when a building abandons it loses it's education benefits. abandonment also causes demand to fluctuate. on top of all this the only thing i am doing differently in my cities is that i am not providing any CS$ or DI. now this could be causing a few abandonment problems in my city, but i don't know. also i thought you all should know that the abandonment is not the only thing present in the city. there is also mass dilapidation going on around my residential district. you might think this is due to desirability but i think it is due to the fact that the R$$$ cannot find jobs and this is only true because the demand is constantly fluctuating. if that doesn't make sense, in simple terms my R$$$ are abandoning/dilapidating due to the negative demand for residents and jobs > due to the education fluctuating > sims get dumber > they demand *****ty jobs > they don't get them > they abandon/dilapidate. i think that is about as clearly as i can outline IMO what is happening in my city. i really only think that people who have experienced this first hand can provide any advice. so please post if you know of any ways to stop the abandoning/dilapidating of buildings without providing *****ty jobs like CS$ and DI. i also thought i would mention how in an earlier city of mine, i got up to 750000 population. i don't recall as bad abandonment problems but i do recall providing all types of jobs, even low wealth. ok well that is all i have to say and i look forward to your replies.

i've just been reading every abandonment topic i can find and here i am asking for some help. basically i was building a city and i started to get annoyed because of mass abandonment of workplaces and dilapidation of residential buildings. now from my research i have found that numerous people have said that things like traffic noise and traffic pollution don't affect the desirability of R$$$ buildings, provided there is decent coverage of necessary services. that being said i can also say that this city i am building has a perfectly green desirability for R$$$. continue reading if you agree that this city is not suffering from desirability problems. now if i have not given enough information please feel free to ask for more but i am going to try and define in my opinion what i think is the problem and hopefully someone can help me to solve it. well there are two reasons i get for abandonment in my city. one is "low demand" and the other is "commute time". now obviously the commute time is to do with abandonment of residential buildings. this is a growing problem in my city because every abandoned building i get the demand changes. the same applies for dilapidation and these two problems i can't seem to avoid no matter how desirable my city is and how many jobs i provide. i also get fluctuation of education because buildings that abandon and dilapidate usually lose all the education benefits achieved. now with education fluctuating, demand fluctuating and buildings abandoning/dilapadating how can i ever continue to build this city. i will be very skeptical of any ideas you guys provide due to the fact that i have been dealing with this problem for some time now. also it might be important to know that the "low demand" abandonment issue occurs with my commercial and industrial buildings and this is IMO caused by problems happening in my residential district. please don't be confused becuase i have been told that residential building don't abandon due to "low demand".
