Sim city 4 help

I have development problems. Mostly related to jobs and commute. First is that is there is commutex10 bug?

Secondly, I get highrises, that boosts the population too much, that there aren't enough jobs for them. Then they get abandoned or delapadated, and then a lot of poor people move in. For some reason the commerical zones aren't developing along with the residential zones.

Thirdly is that I find the demand for high tech to be low even with education at 160. And high tech industries get abandoned in droves, demand goes up, then sinks into the negative. The cycle goes on forever.

Lastly, I screwed up some of the official regions, how can I get the regions as they were before back? Do I have to reinstall?

Are there any custom regions to download? I prefer undeveloped ones, with lots of water and land in each city.

Thanks.

Problem 1: I'm not sure to what you are referring.

Problem 2: Dezone some of your high density residential. Replace with low or medium. With your commercial districts, place lots of plazas and landmarks. That should drive up the demand.

Problem 3: Bulldoze all of the abandoned industries. Dezone a considerable amount of industry.

Problem 4: There are TONS of incredible regions on the STEX under Map.

Hope I could help.

Are there any maps with huge landmasses separated by water, and the lands are FLAT?

Also, if the region can have a few huge zones that would be great. I don't like 100 little zones.

    Thanks.

From what I gather, the high tech industries are mainly geared towards the middle classed? The rich only seems to like commerical and educational jobs. I get a who bunch of high wealth tall structures, then they don't have jobs, then they turn into slums.

    Goit...

In your original post, you asked about finding copies of the original Maxis regions without re-installing. Yes - if you look in the C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Regions folder, you will find clean copies of the original regions. You can copy - paste them into the My Documents\SC4\Regions folder. Hope this helps...

The rich will only work in the commercial or more wealthy industrial jobs, this is true. However even the highest wealth commercial and industrial employ only a few rich sims (the CEOs etc) and mostly middle and lower wealth for the rest of the jobs (eg a sky scraper with 4000 jobs will only employ a small proportion of R$$$ sims for those jobs, the rest will be employed from the medium and low wealth sims, ie the middle managers, janitors, office clerks etc). So you've probably got far too many wealthy residents for the few high wealth positions available, even if you do have a lot of commercial sky scrapers in your city.

Also try interspersing the commercial sky scrapers with residential sky scrapers. This reduces the distance your sims have to commute.

I see. So the rich commerical buildings need poor people to work right? I bulldozed the dirty industries, then the poor people went out, then the rich businesses closed, and then the rich people don't have jobs, then the city has a lot of abandoned buildings. Also, I think I might not want to lower taxes for rich people anymore, because if they move in too much, then they are going to end up jobless anyways. But why would the poor people need dirty industries even though they were educated? Do the poor always need some dirty industries to work in? Also, I hate making new zones, because whenever I do it, the education starts from zero again, and I need to work the whole process of elementary-university again to bring up the average EQ. Also, my EQ is stuck at 160, how do you get it to 200? Thanks.

Basically you need all types of I, C and R in your city (or region). If you don't want Dirty I in your main city, put it in a neighbor. As the city and region develope, Dirty industry will become less in demand, and HT and Manu will increase, its all part of developement.

I rarely lower taxes for any sector. It will cause a short term increase in demand, but once the demand is satisfied you are left in the same situation.

As per education. I build a good network of elementary schools and libraries. I also provide plenty of museums and the university. Also, be sure to have the Pro-Reading and Junior Sports ordinances enacted. When you get the main library, major art museum, opera.... be sure to include those as well. I rarely build high schools as I find they are expensive and don't increase education levels much. I usually have education levels around 200. When you mae new zones, just give them some time to increase in education, it happens rather quickly.
