OK here it is a really fun contest. This will be a challange to test your highway building skills. You will have one month to submit your most wackiest, craziest interchange ever. You can build it from scratch not even in a real city. You can use as much money and cheats as you need. Who cares. Make em crazy!

can you just draw it out or something since simcity doesnt give much options for interchanges?

And Toronto is kicking ass! I still can't belive how well they are doing.

Well I wasn't planning on that but I guess, sure! Why the hell not. This isn't just a simcity thing but for all those who have good ideas for these really kool interchanges. I would ask one thing to those who have the drawing thing going on. To please pick a city with an interhcnage and find a way to make it as your own. That way it should be fair. Good luck!9.gif

Highway Interchange contest eh? I'm amazed I didn't come up with this idea... some of the crazy interchanges I've drawn you'd have to be insane to use... This one continues the trend. They all are, however built using as a base a number of real interchange types mixed and matched together to see what happens... Try this on for size:

    /idealbb/files/madinterchange.JPG

The image may shock you in its complication... But it's honestly simple types, really! 9.gif
(I will note here that I myself would not like to direct somebody through this in real life... Nor would I, if I could drive in the first place, want to be the driver using this interchange. 22.gif)

In the image, four classes of road come into close proximity: arterial road, secondary arterial road, major local road, and of course, highway/freeway (whichever you want to call them.)

The trick to interpreting it as it stands is to break it up. treat it freeway by freeway (if you can. 22.gif)

This diagram is based on people driving on the left. Sorry if that makes it even harder than it already, but that's the side we drive on over here, so it was natural to me.

The one (and probably only) advantage to this interchange is that you can access any of the routes from any other thoroughafe shown (provided I didn't miss anything 22.gif).

The East LA interchange is THE best interchange EVER. It intersects all the biggest LA freeways. It looks kewl, but is bad to drive on

EDIT: Pic resized, it was too big (even though this thread is years old) -MDZ

Pretty good idea for the contest...

Also, the Maple Leafs are playing quite well but let me mention the following points:
    1) They haven't won the cup since 1967
    2) No NHL team with an European captain has ever won the Stanley Cup

What about the Bruckner interchange in New York City (In the Bronx borough)?

    (picture is huge):

The areal photo just doesn't do it justice. It looks much more amazing from the ground, espescially driving through it. There are roads on the ground underneath it as well. It isn't complete because highways nearby to the east and west wake four of the missing connections. And the Hutchenson River parkway (top to bottom) and I-95 (exits top right) meet further north as well, so the remaining missing connectioms are taken care of that way. Many connections require exiting to the streets below briefly before getting on the other highway.

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

Aw, I was hoping for entries that people made with SC4 or RH, who cares about what someone scribbles on a paint program, my dog can do that, I hope you change your requirements to screenshots from the game only, I was anxious to see people creativity, not scribble drawings or some arial photo of an interchage in somebodys city that they live in (we all have em, be creative and come up with your own)  otherwise, your opening post is incorrect and misleading

Well man it is not that it makes sence it is just really KOOL! Have you seen some of these. It also gives people of ST to show off there skills in simcity or drawing. Now on to the contest:
Here is my entry, it is the San Fran Bay Bridge interchange:
    /idealbb/files/Change1.jpg
    This is confusing as HELL.

ok man I will say this i will let the one slide, BUT THIS IS THE LAST RULE CHANGE I AM MAKING. I agree paint is a little leg up on the others. Here are the last offical rulz:

    1: Must have a in-game screeny

2: If you have a real life photo you can have it, but it must have a picture of the change, and have a best try to recreate it in simcity4 / RH. If you don't have either of these. A paragraph on why you choose it.

Thanx for all the entries so far keep em comin'1.gif2.gif

Well, I will start my own thread with the actual contest you came up with, and this thread will become just a "post a cool picuture" thread.  I wanted to see what people could come up with using the game.  I've seen tons of great interchanges if the Journals forum, and there should be a contest for the best

Ok, I think that's fair, despite the fact I've already done one. I can see how doing it the way I did gives an unfair leg-up, as there are no constraints to it. I'm not bitter about this, as to be so is pointless... I wish everyone luck with this...

PS, I'm pretty sure I could imagine up some devilish intersections by Sc4/RH standards... hehe 22.gif
