Let's get the summary we got so far:

1.EA doesn't care for US.They just LOVE to live in a money version of earth. In english, that means they make games for more money.

2.EA tried a new method of luring back customers of the past(like me):They updated their games but they just ruined the REAL meaning of simcity.I used to try to wait for my 1st skyscraper to be built.Wasn't easy in all games to do that without mods and cheats BUT EA just made it like,a 4 year old can understand this.

3.I heard that they let workers work until it is the next day.Poor workers.Pray that they finally get their rest.Pray.5.gif

4.Will Wright's game WAS a big hit on the stores and shelves but gradually,it turned from big hit to big shot.I think Will Wright will forget about the real moral of simcity.

5.Simcity Societies is like a copy of city life except it has multiple themes.I mean its a bit weird to have a apartment just 1 block away from a factory that makes seafood.14.gif

6.Although the I really wanted to have an a city with people who follow the rules EXACTLY and secret cameras, strict rules and overpassing is equal to death(NO i am not that evil.I am just a bit bad in games.),SCS and the SCS9.gifestinations ruined the whole meaning of simcity.

7.Spores is winning over Simcity franchices.

So,I hope that EA will evantually will turn simcity back to what it was, popular and also big hit and also fun.

Hm, after seeing these opinions about signing petitions and rioting against EA, I made a little experiment on the internet.

Experiment: Google "simcity".

Goal: Search for where Simtropolis' homepage appears.

Result: It came on hit number 65 at page 7.

Conclusion: I might have flaws in this experiment, but generally our website is quite invisible to the big guys in EA, even though we actually have the biggest effect on current Sim City game today. We are such an underground cult, nobody knows of us.

I can't tell so much more, internet's going down.

See ya,

DT

Probably not.

Just a guess here but I suspect that one reason the Sims are so profitable is because there are many expansion packs they can sell to make more money.  The basic "engine" is already there.  The expansion packs make money because they cost less to develop; they are just building upon what is already there.

SimCity 4 had one expansion pack:  Rush Hour.   After that, there really wasn't much hope of selling an expansion pack.   How could they sell an expansion pack when there is so much available for free?  Why pay developers to do the work when the fan base will do it for free?  How could they have any hope of making money off of expansion packs?

I have no insider information here.  I'm just speculating.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis
