I'm ready to club my 8800GTX to death

This has been happening for two weeks now. The card is running nice and cool (around 40C - 50C), and it seems if I have more than one graphics heavy program open at once, eventually it just gives up. The computer stops responding, the monitor goes blank (no signal), and I can hear the 8800GTX fan stop completely. Just to make sure I opened the case, and the fan wasn't even moving. What the heck is going on here? The power supply is fine and I've tried different drivers.

I've been getting this lately too... although, if I run anything for long enough the screen will go all pixelated and fuzzy. I doubt this will fix your problem, but I just unhook the monitor for a few seconds then plug it back in and everything is back to normal.

Sounds like your 8800 is faulty though, i'd prepare to save for a new one before this one dies completely.

Are you still under warranty? If so, you may want to hold back clubbing your card.

I have a 8800GT and it works fine. Perhaps "downgrading" to this card may be your best bet. Prices have been coming down more for this card as time passes.

BFG has a lifetime warranty on the card (yay) so I could send it back for a replacement.

Is it possible BFG would allow me to send it back for a refund? Because if I could, I could just get a 4870... or a 4870X2 when those come out, for less the price of what the card originally cost me ($580).
