nice picture. the story reminds me of Oak Brook, a suburb of Chicago. it has a small population but there are so many office towers and buildings there.

    Kent

Iv'e redone the city centre, but I was wondering if this strays to far from the "original" British style in Sc4? To me, it really doesn't, but of course this is a combination of both our tastes 9.gif

    Kent-6Dec011219033742.jpg

oh also as has been requested for quite a while now there are no clouds/fog today 9.gif

It depends, what would be the "original" British style? I think it's a good mix of W2W and highrises, as long as a good chunk of W2W residences are good old brown English terraces. The colour almost makes it look more British than anything else.

I like to think there isn't really a typical british style 34.gif

    But sadly there is 33.gif

And you've created it such a way that my eyes pop out of me' sockets when i marvel over your pictures. One thing i would've done though is move the tower blocks away from the Cathedral so as to create you own protected sightlines as they have in London & all over the world. Also if there were some London(ish) sort of midrise Blocks such as ill Tonkso( notably 110 cannon street which he just realesed) has just realesed mixed in with say, some porky's,zero 7's or Gascooker's buildings around the Cathedral in an almost uniform grid(like the Centre of Glasgow for example),it would create a feeling of real density around the core of your city.

    https://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc273/jayo_011/2699002057_87e7c0719f_b.jpg

Now,if you look in the foreground of the picture on the above link, you'll see what i mean.If you have a look around the Cannon street area you'll see a real dense area of 4 to 8 or more story buildings and if somehow you could recreate this,it would be the first British CJ that actually had the same High Density of London and captured that kind of Bland Corporate 80's office style area.

    Regards.

    Jack.

    Update 2

    The actual thing!

    Kent- City/Square Mile

Well we discussed the city in our last update, the booming centre of commerce in Kent, now we explore deeper into this maze of buildings!

    https://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll38/Alexandre_058/Kent-1Nov021219548019.jpg

The first thing you are likely to notice when you enter the city, is St. Paul's cathedral. There have been several cathedrals on this site, this being the most recent design, built over the old one which was destroyed in the 18th century. As you walk around inside, you will notice how many of Kent's most famous have been buried in here! Including Sir Paul Johnston himself, architect of the Cathedral and many other great buildings around Kent.

    Kent-20May161219549580.jpg

After passing St. Paul's, you will be going down one of Kent's most famous streets, Regiment Street! It is here that long ago, all the great newspapers of Kent were published, today only one remains, and most of the old newspaper headquarters have been filled with offices, practically thousands come here to work during weekdays.

    Kent-5Apr021219535202.jpg

    Kent-10Sep071219548275.jpg

Riding down Regiment Street you will eventually pass the Commonwealth tower, and you will slowly enter the Heart of the City.

    https://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll38/Alexandre_058/Kent-20May161219549606.jpg

A Stark contrast to the busy roads, the quiet side streets where everyone lives....of course, these homes probably cost more than you will make in your entire life! People really really like living here I suppose! I can't imagine living in such a dense noisy area, can you?

    Kent-20May161219549367.jpg

Anyway, this is the heart of the city, where all the major corporations have their offices in Kent,

very few people actually live in this part of Kent, but hundreds of thousands work here everyday! As you can imagine it is practically a ghost town on weekends! we would stay longer, but I wanted to show you the countryside, and I purchased some train tickets!

    .......................

    Kent-14Oct161219550883.jpg

    Hmm.....those clouds look ominous!

    countryside.jpg

Oh dear it has begun to rain! Just as we reached the countryside, what a shame.

Perhaps for our next update we'll go someplace warmer. Yes, I think that would be nice don't you? 2.gif

Expect something new, next week 4.gif

penguin007: That's very true it does have a sort of continental "flair" to it! Thank you!

edmonton_stinks: Very true my friend it just wouldn't be quite the same without those would it? 9.gif

jayo: Awww, you're too kind mate 9.gif I did take into consideration the density of the area around St. Paul's, and I did attempt to sort of "level" the skyline around it but I found it did not give me the same feeling of density that I was expecting from it, therefore I hade to add some higher buildings, but don't worry I've taken what you said and apllied it to the city already, I'm working on it now 9.gif Thanks again mate!

    Za: Haha thanks 9.gif

    GreekMan: Thanks!

    nihonkaranws: Thank you, !

    jaqculina: Thank you very much!

roboo1: hehe I had to get used to not having fog, but I'm glad that I did 9.gif Thanks!

It is hard to imagine, but that's the price you pay for being close to work.

That's a shame about the rain. At least I got to see the city, and it looks great.

In picture 6 St Helens appears much taller than 30 st Mary Axe(The Gherkin),when infact The Gherkin is 62 metres taller. Is that just the way you took the picture or is it actually taller? 3.gif

    Anyway,great work.

    Some buildings you might want.

    Jen_p's terraces.

    emmalb's terraces.

    emmalb's georgian terrace.

Although i think you might want to relot the above BAT.

These BATs bring back memories 21.gif

    Once again,great work 2.gif

Just noticed this CJ, and you have impressed me. I like how the updates seem to be tour-oriented, which sets it aside from other journals. I'll be back for more!
