Good Terrains

Hi!
I was hoping somebody might be able to help me on this one. I've been scanning through simtropis for a couple of months now and I'm pretty overwhelmed with what goes on in here - theres just mountains and mountains of mods/maps/buildings etc all of which are pretty cool.
I've been looking to attempt my first proper city with regions and all and have been looking through lots of maps on the site that might suit an amatuer mayor like myself and that looks reasonably attractive to the eye as. But everytime I download a map and get it up and running it looks, well, kinda crap 15.gif No snow on my mountains in fact mountains that look like mountains when downloading from the site turn out to be hills in my game. Is there something I need to do there? From snooping around the Modds & Downloads section I've come to the conclusion that I'm missing out on some essential kit - namely terrain modds. So making a long story short I was hoping that some of you guys might be able to help me find some places on the site where I could find such terrain. In my investigations it seem that a modd called Columbus Terrain is pretty popular but I can't find this anywhere! Any sort of guidance on this one would be a great help and maybe give me the inspiration needed to really get my teeth into this game.

Thanks!!

Do a search on the STEX for 'cycledogg'. I guess you could say he is the 'guru' (my opinion along with many others) of terrain mods. He has several available (along with many other terrain and tree items) including a snow-capped version of the Columbus mod. Hope this helps...

    Thanks CaptCity

That little poke in the right direction is much appreciated. I'm going to get home straight away and start searching!

If anyone else out there knows of any other good stuff like this I'd be more than willing to listen, download, pay money for.... well maybe not the last one but I'm fairly desperate to try and get some aesthetic value to my rather dreary looking maps!

Hmmm...look up "Water Mod" and "Rock Mod" while you're at it. They will, obviously, change your water and cliffs to more realistic style. Just take your pick...I suggest "Brigantine Water Mod" by Pegasus and any one of his Rock Mods, but really the choice is yours.

I always think of Pegasus as a chick, because the name is almost always shortened to "Peg". That could have been embarassing.

There are 2 different mods to get snowy terrain - the one I use has a file name of:

    snow_capped_lower.dat

Just find it on this site and put it in your plug-ins folder.

The other one does the same thing but the snow level was too high for my liking.

Or you could keep your computer set to Dec 25 and get seasonal snow levels.
