I've been playing SC4 on and off for years now, but have not really kept up with the modding community. I downloaded NAM, but, looking at everyone's city journals, you all are doing tremendously complex things that require some dependencies. I have plenty of bandwidth, hard drive space, and a capable machine. So, I am considering completely uninstalling SC4 Deluxe and starting over completely. If I do this, I have the following questions (I did look at the Omnibus):

  1. What is a good region that is large but varies in terrain?
  2. What are the best NAM install settings for a good computer and someone who wants realistic cities?
  3. What do you think the other essential mods are other then NAM (and other than ones mentioned in this topic)?
Also, do the BSC and NDEX have "mega packs" instead of just individual files? I have a bit of free time this summer, and I want to do some work in Deluxe. I'd appreciate your responses, even though they are some pretty standard questions.

Thanks

add. 2: Read the readme for the NAM. It gives details about the traffic controller. Personally I use Standard Congestion and Perfect Pathfinding x1. That will be quiet realistic, and will make use of your hardware.

This page will tell you what dependency can be found in which Megapack, etc.

Can I download both packs or will they conflict?

I don't think there is a definitive list of essential addons. You just have to explore this and other sites, look at CJs and the STEX and find what you like. And don't be afraid to ask questions, there is always someone to help.
