The History of Lorraine is full of War and Love, being founded by the Romans in 34 A.D., the Kingdom is rich in both heritage and tradition. After the fall of the Romans, Lorraine broke apart to form a small kingdom that encompassed the small city of Chloe'. Chloe' quickly grew to become the center of culture in the area, but because of the Dark Ages was motivated to spend more on religion and its army than the ideals of culture. At its height Lorraine was in control of all of central Europe, its empire spreading from the Alps to the Black sea and from the Ill river to the Danube. It was quickly ravaged by the Ottoman empire, and was enveloped into Germany when Bismarck invaded in the late 1800's. It was not until World War I that Lorraine was granted independence again, but it was quickly enveloped again when Hitler took over  in the 1938. Lorraine was heavily devastated in the war, but Chloe' was able to escape major damage thanks to its World Heritage status. The past 60 years have been relatively quiet for Lorraine, and it has not been involved in a major war since.

Lorraine sits in central Europe, with a population of about 17.7 million. It is divided into 2 states and 2 city states. The southern portion of Lorraine (Austrian Area) is known as Voralburg, and is a mountainous forested area. Because the area has bad farmland but is rich in rivers and water potential, it has become the more industrialized portion of the nation. With about 45% of the population it is also the most heavily populated, but it only takes up about 25% of the nation. Thanks to its many rivers and streams, it also produces about 76% of all power thanks to its many dams. The northern state of Bregenz is basically the bread-basket of central Europe. With only 35% of the population spread over almost 60% of the land it is not nearly populated as the southern section, but it feeds almost 45 million people a year. It is less industrialized as its southern neighbor, and only has one metro area, the city of Amztell. Overall it has a lower Gross income and levels of living, though it still rivals that of many other rural areas in industrial European nations. The city of Ulm, which sits in the Center of Bregenz has become a city state due to its size and industrial strength. With a population of about 1.3 million it is also the second largest city, and is the leading exporter in the nation for manufactured goods. The city of Chloe, which also happens to be the capitol, has also gained city-state recognition. With a population of about 4.3 million is a large city, and the cultural and economic center for all of central Europe. It holds the highest level of living and gross income of all states in Lorraine.

Lorraine is a Parliamentry Monarchy, headed by Queen Amadalia and Speaker Munich. Lorraine does not have a Prime Minister, instead it is the Parliaments Speaker, who is voted by Parliament, that takes position of what would be the Prime Ministers Job. Parliament is elected by the People, and the Parliament elects the Speaker. The Queen holds the final say in things such as laws, but she can be challenged by Parliament should they overturn her ruling. There are seven parties in Parliament at the moment, with the Party of the Monarchy holding the most seats at 38. There are one hundred twenty seats in parliament. Although there are seven parties, most citizens only recognize that there are five parties. The Party of the People and the Workers Union Party are considered by many to hold the same values, and thus consider the two to actually be only one party. The Communist Party has recently split into two different sects, with one party wanting to move the Capitol to Ulm, and support an Isolationist Lorraine (Communist Liberation Party). The other party (Communist Party) embraces capitalism much like china, and would like to see the capitol stay in Chloe'. Neither party is holds an enormous amount of power in parliament, and thus many are not worried about the effects they may bring.

Adjacent to the Market District, the main rail station for Chloe' is the Bismarck Zentrum built in the late 1800's by French investors in the country. It has since been the center of almost all activity in Chloe', and sits in the Bunder-Stras District the main economic center for the city. Because sections of Chloe' were not destroyed in WWII the station sits on the boundary between the Old city and the newer rebuilt areas. Trips to Paris and Berlin are only a mere couple of hours away thanks to the HSR that connects the city to the Central European Line.

Central-Chloe-Mar5.jpg

The cities market district is probably the biggest tourist destination in all of Lorraine. Starting at about 4:30 every morning the area begins to vibrate with farmers and traders from all over starting to set up the markets. By 7:00am the area is bustling with activity as both tourists and residents shop for everything from grapes and wine to Louis Vuitton. The district is surrounded by three canals, two of which can be seen in the picture, and there are usually water actvities going on during the hot afternoons in the city.

Seems its been awhile since my last mosaic, for those of you that notice 2.gif. Anyway a full view of the Market district can be seen from this view, as well as the clash between the French looking old district, the modern tenant buildings built right after WWII was over, and the newer aged Berlin inspired buildings. The market district is the most expensive area to live in Chloe', with the average apartment costing over 1.5 million Lanvin (about 1.3 million Euros).

Newerpic.jpg

The Bismarck Zentrum can be seen in the top of the picture, and is situated about 6 blocks from the Market district. Thanks to the stations location, many of the cities core districts have flourished because of the cheapness of rail tickets, which in turn brings in millions of tourists every year. This area has been going through a major renovation as many lesser known fashion brands start to open shop up in the bottoms of the apartment buildings.

Central-Chloe-Mar2.jpg

For you bigger city freaks 3.gif, some high-rises. These were built on the edge of the Market District on the Palis Canal, and held the National Monarchy when the Palace was under construction. Today they house many of the Parliament members, along with the surrounding area, and host their own bus line that offers direct transport to Government locations.

Central-Chloe-Mar3.jpg

The eastern part of the Market district, this area is generally less expensive and is farther away from the cities center, and the Bismarck Zentrum.  The area is though right on-top of the Zinermack Park, which is a three sections (separated by the Matternich Ave.) of grass land that is perfect for hosting picnics or tanning. The park surrounds the end of the smalled canal that makes up the third canal of the Market District. Zinermack Park hosts many of the cities Music Festivals and is the center piece of the Gay Pride Parade hosted every June.

Thats it for the First update of Lorraine, and this is the successor to TIENT. Frankly I got really bored with the direction of TIENT and so I took a 4 month break, but I am back lol and better than ever. Hope you enjoy this new adventure hope to see you back and don't forget to comment. 3.gif

Wow, awesome city and a very nice history too! Those taller condos go with everything so perfectly, the architecture doesn't look out of place at all. Everything is so realistic!

I'll definitely watch this one...

Btw, I look forward to seeing you at the UNSC-SCJU Convention!
