Do you hesitate on escalators?

I'm perfectly fine with escalators, only slightly cautious at the top; don't want to get the edge of my trousers caught in the grate. However, my Mum is a totally different story, she refuses to go on escalators 3.gif.

I always hesitate. Unlike Duke, I aim directly for the seem. I try to get the middle of my foot directly over top it. It's like a little balancing game. I don't know why I do it. I think it stems from when my Mom warned me as a child not get too close to the back of next step because it could crush my foot. I don't really believe that anymore, but it's a sticky habit nonetheless.

I just step onto the escalators' stairs after a split-second waiting for the perfect time. I also love to go the up on down escalators. I find it fun, until I am forced to stop....

I always hesitate both stepping off and on. I am just terrified of falling or slipping. Occasionally I begin to step on, and I just suddenly can't physically get on. And so I create a huge backlog of people behind me. I then usually take the stairs.

i never really hesitate stepping on or off escalators, i cant remember the last time i used one now that i think about it, let alone what i thought about at the time

i do know i have a habit of standing on the cracks, or seams or however you like to say them so my feet hang half way off the step at the back

not sure why, habits from when i was younger i guess

running up a downwards escalator,

now that's fun

unless someone gets on at the top while your running up, then you have to stop and go back to the bottom with all that effort wasted

Ah ... one of my fondest childhood memories was going into Auckland City to the biggest multi-level department store...  The Farmers Trading Company, and at the very top was the roof top play ground, with pedal cars and a cafeteria that sold wonderfully artificially coloured and sugar loaded orange cordial that fountained over in a plastic see through urn...  and sausage rolls and lemingtons.... and ham sandwiches made with white bread...

How did we get up there?

Escalators of course...  and all part and one of the major highlights of visiting the store.

I do remember being given lessons on how to get on and off... and I am sure there was hand holding involved with my mother.

Zip forward 35 years....  Auckland Hospital has one escalator....  up only.  Level 4 entrance to Level 5 main reception.  If you want to go down again,  take the elevator or stairs.  Must have been a budget thing.  People get very confused.

Oh and was definately NOT my boys (10 & 12) playing on the escalators at the airport....  no no no...  they are much too well behaved for that.

Escalators? no, I don't even hesitate running down up escalators, or visa-versa. Or kicking trash at up escalators. For two hours. Until security stops you.

Good times, good times.

I like running one the moving walkways at the airport. Especialy when you the only one in the concourse. It's like a marathon run. You sprint going the wrong way at top speed and a granny could probably beat you.

just a side note: the new layout of simtropolis is causing too many "unresponsive script " messages and it shows up every time.
