Hello. This is my second BAT ever.  I am quite happy with it so I figured I would show it around to get comments and feedback. My first bat I did last week and its a Best Buy store. It turned out really good IMO but its not for show at the moment. Thanks for looking. This render is only on medium!

PS. This is a R$$

That's a really nice second BAT. Do you have previous 3D modeling experience?

My suggestion right now would be to add mullions and frames to the large windows, that's the only thing that really sticks out so far. After that I would do either a draft or low quality export to test how it looks in game, to compare the scale of your building to the scale of the game's buildings.

Do you have an image editing program like Adobe Photoshop? If not you should download the GIMP (search google) which is a good and free program.

Yes I have previous 3D modeling experience. For a year I was making Star Ships with 3ds Max. I started out with Bryce 3D.  Yes I have Paint shop pro 7-8. Why do you ask?

I added some pictures of the BAT in game. I do actully have 1 problem I can't seem to figure out on my own. In game my lights are not showing up at all. Yet the renders show that its perfect. Perhaps there is some thing wrong with my LOD's? I have already deleted them and refreshed them along with reseting lights and camara!  I'm happy a guru like your self has looked at my work Jasoncw!

PS. I had no idea what a Mullion was so have had to look it up lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mullion

PPS. I may have to scale down the model as it takes up a 4x4 tile ATM.

EDIT: I found out what the problem was for the lighting. I needed to get the small patch file from SC4.

Ok, that's good.  What you should do, is you should go into the game and take a bunch of screenshots at zoom 5 (the closest zoom before it gets pixelated), and then you should put them into a paint shop file.  Then you should take the color eyedropper tool and "study" the game's color pallette.  This will help you texture in the future.  Save this file.  Next time you do a preview render, take a screenshot of the preview render (the "print screen"/"prnt srn", then edit>paste), and use some tool to select and erase the black matting.  Now you can quickly compare your building to what's in the game.

Yeah, you'll need to look up some terms, lol.  You'll also want to look up "parapet wall" (the part of the wall that sticks up beyond the roof), "spandrel" (the panel inbetween windows), and "flashing" (the trim at the top of a wall which keeps water from getting into the wall).

    nice start!

I would fix the nightlights, they look a bit bright and the nightmap that maxis uses looks ugly. The rest of the building is amazing for a second BAT attempt!

Instead of attaching all of your pictures, Post them full size into the topic. To do this, just upload to an image host like http://www.imageshack.us or https://www.photobucket.com and post the Direct link in to the little image icon when posting. (Iimage icon looks like a small yellow square with a mountian on it)

Post the direct link to the image in the box there and make sure the picture is no wider than 800 pixels and no taller than 600.

This is a new project of mine. I have way to many ideas for this one so all have to hold some back and use them on other projects. Some times to much of  a good thing is bad.
