It snowed last night. This afternoon, I went out on a brief errand. When I got back, the hood of my car looked like this:

Why the funky pattern in the ice? Well,  if you flip the hood open and look at the underside...

The thin parts got hot from the engine and the ice melted. The thick parts didn't heat up as easily and the ice held.
