Ok, fine, bump it! 3.gifquote>

I have to agree, I subscribe to this thing just out of hope. It really needs to be made into a sticky or some thread of "Greatest CJs of All Time".

Yeah, perhaps it should be moved to the Omnibus as a tutorial for people on how to make a CJ so awesome that people will tell their grandkids about it. I say that only because until it was bumped a few days ago, I hadn't even heard of Digby. I am so glad it was bumped and I read it all. Paul is a genius.

You know the core samples scientists in Antarctica take of the ice? They can look at the ice that was frozen 1,000 years ago to learn about weather conditions when it froze. This CJ is like a core sample of Simtropolis. There are so many members that haven't been around for 4 years, who in some cases this CJ is the only evidence left that they were active in the community. Some members had their only post in this thread. You can see longtime members nowadays when they were brand new, when the first BATs were being released, new forums formats, and every discovery and modification along the crazy journey SC4 has taken. This is a history book.

I hope newer city journalists read this and take from it all there is to learn. A great CJ isn't just a thread in a forum, it's an extension of yourself and your own work ethic and creativity.

Huh, Digby mysteriously appears on the front page of the city journals and nobody has posted to it. Strange (unless it's something I don't know about). Anyway, this is one of my all-time favorites, as I'm sure it is of many others. Glad somebody bumped it up to the top.

Well to be honest it hasn't been updated in .. forever.

It's still in the CJ Hall of Fame.

Yes, but the last update was in 2005. I'm sure if he would have updated, he would have already. Now let this rest, ok?

No, he PM'd me less than a week ago saying he might come back. That's the only reason I put that last post on.

Yes, I left him a PM last July 2007, and he finally replied to me a few weeks ago, he said he might come back at some point, lets keep our fingers crossed!

My first post ever at this forum:

I 'rediscovered' SC4 a couple of weeks ago because of this thread. It made me look at SC4 with new eyes, and I must thank the mysterious Paul for it. I really, really, really would love to see an update soon. Please...

The last update of this City Journal was February 2005. Yes it is amazing. But really this thread is for looking not speaking.

I've only been around here for a couple days and I have seen lots of dead threads get posted in. Typically it seems like the veterans of the site become upset about this.

Might I make a suggestion rather than reprimanding users everytime this occurs, the administrators either create a script to close old topics? Just a thought.

*looks around sheepishly*

Well since someone else has posted here recently so shall I.

This CJ has really inspired me to take a different approach to playing SC4. It's simply fantastic.

Well, I guess there's no chance of an update.

I just spent several hours reading through this, amazed at everything. I'm so sad it has to end like this. I was really looking forward to seeing Granton in all its glory...

Thanks for the inspiration~

Sad ... it went before its time. I was hoping to see Digby grow from a humble collection of villages into something remarkable.

Perhaps we could ask Paul, if he is still around to upload the region to a site like Megauploads or Rapidshare and continue the saga as a group? Just a thought.

Where the Heck Have I Been?

Well, one word. "World of Warcraft". Oh, that's three words. Okay, three words. Still, that darned game took a year out of my life!

Okay, here is a rundown of the last two years. I stopped building Digby, but did not erase it! It just sat. I tried "getting back into it" but the video card I was using wouldn't let me play the simulation. So I gave up again and went on to other games. Then I got into World of Warcraft. If any of you are into it, you know what I mean.

Now, after finally getting rid of the drug that is WoW, I have a new video card, and am building in Digby again. So the region lives again.

I have been doing a lot of building. In the meantime, I see that the forum here has changed quite a bit, and I'll have to do a lot of editing. Not to worry. I'll give it a shot.

However, I don't think I'll spend as much time as I did before with the updates. They probably won't be as fancy, but who knows!

Just leave it with me, and I'll see what I can do...quote>

*HIGH PITCH SQUEEL*

YOUR BACK! I missed ya man!

Please, update. You gotta keep this alive. It is a inspiration to many, including me.

Please, for the sake of our sanity, update.
