    -REPLIES-

Well a logged in and entered this thread and was a little shocked at the amount of support so far. Seems like there are quite a few from Salt Lake here. Thanks!!!!

smarty218- Thanks, the suburbs are plopped. I think I would go crazy if I tried to grow such uniform suburbs.2.gif

    tigerplayer91, jacqulina, ZGMF - X88S, Kelistmac, packersfan, dfnva, dabadon5, un1,

Bombshoo- Yea, I wasn't planning on using it at first but I think I will download it and compare. I wasn't aware that it changed so much at different altitudes, fingers crossed it is the right color in my region!

manubeas- No big traffic problems so far, glad I could help w/ ideas!

edmonton stinks- Thanks, only 3 more weeks till I loose the crutches lo (I've already been on them for over a month...30.gif

panthersimcity4- Yep, about the same story for me, I've driven through on the freeway a couple times and flown through a couple times. I really like the larger mountain cities though.

etherian- Thanks, I'll probably work on a couple tiles in there just to mix things up a bit.

Feliwi- Thanks, the southeastern most part of the lake will come into the map (I'll plop about have a large tile of peg water).

Twenty20- Thanks, I've been trying different styles of suburbs for a while and I think I've finally started to figure out how much bigger the scale really is than what I think it is.

GMT- Yep, pretty repetitive, hopefully the spread will look good.

nihonkaranws- Thanks, that's what I'm shooting for!

JaWood- Thanks, as I said, I'm not native so I'm not completely sure of anything, thanks for the tip! I'll change my picture. As you can see already, your bats will help out quite a bit with this, thanks so much for them! I hope to see you back to get more tips!

pasander5- Thanks, I use plopable suburbs to keep them uniform (I couldn't imagine trying to get all the houses to grow right lol!). I'd love to see your recreation!

lucky7- Thanks, I was half thinking of your region when I wrote that comment2.gif.

The Big Z- Yea, it was kind of a bummer to find a lack of bats, 34.gif, but I'll just have to do with what's out there!

    Hanson784- Thanks, its blade2k5's.

    Explodingsims- Please do!

anarchy0029- Thanks, I really like the mountains surrounding the area!

felipe- Yep- lots of roads and spread in the US.2.gif

    Xenofeel- Thanks, glad you like.

Sky Guy- Um, I'm not sure yet. I hadn't heard of it until you brought it up (not native) but I googled it. It looks like it won't be completed for a few more years so most likely construction equipment? but possibly I'll build it as it will look when completed.

MTLT_17- Thanks, it's cycledogg's missouri breaks terrain mod.

Also, just to clear it up, I've gotten quite a few comments about my map. This is not mine, I downloaded it from the stex, it's blade2k5's. I'll edit my post to avoid further confusion.

    -UPDATE-

Just a couple teasers of the airport. I've been really busy with school- finals and SAT are next week.30.gif

The international airport is about 80% finished. Hopefully I can finish it by the end of the weekend and do a massive airport update.

Overview- parking isn't quite done and there are a few other things to fill in but I wanted to at least get you a pic of the terminal as it is right now.

A closer view of concourse B

    concoursebot8.jpg

A mix of larger hangers and cargo north of the terminal.

And some lower wealth suburbs apartments in an area I've been working on.

Thanks for your patients while I finish up school!

sigh, living in Salt Lake was the happiest two years of my life. Then dad moved us to Amarillo, TX, it sucks. People here don't know how to drive, and everyone hates me because i'm Buddhist.26.gif. By the way, can you remake the West Jordan neighborhood. Around the Kennicot Mines. Please9.gif

I went to SLC on December and it has to be the city with the best background (as seen in the first picture) and the ski resorts around there are great. I liked the buildings in the outer part of the city that look like they're completely made of glass.

Yes to the airport, no to the suburbs.

The airport looks exactly like the overhead shot. You got the shape right and everything!

But, the suburbs don't look low wealth enough. I can see some low wealth houses, but there are too many two stories and swimming pools for my tastes. However, I do sympathize with you. There aren't too many low wealth suburban houses on the STEX.

Well, I was really trying to get an update out this afternoon but it doesn't look like it will happen. I've just got too much to do 46.gif

    -REPLIES-

anarchy0029- Thanks I spent a long time playing with the different terminal pieces trying to get it close.

    jacqulina, almighty nienaber- thanks

underwearman2007- Yeah, I'll prly end up making it when I get to that area.2.gif

seanmagon- Yea Park City is sick.

    nottheboss- thanks, glad you liked!

edmonton_stinks-  Thanks for catching that, it was a brainfart, I meant apartments. Yeah its tough to find low wealth stuff but I spent a while searching and I've found a few good ones. I'll start using sg's mobile home pack pretty soon (I just found that today it will work great)!

Ah. Again, I don't necessarily agree with that use of those buildings, but the all the concrete makes it looks a lot crummier.

Excellent airport! I feel like I'm there when looking at your pics, and I've been through it a lot, so I should know. This is my "home" airport. It's not as big as many, but it's still pretty busy.

Now for some positive pointers. There are three control towers at this airport. Two smaller ones on top of the terminals, and a very tall concrete one out by the large hanger/cargo area. All three are missing in the screen shots.

    airportme9.jpg

    airportiu0.jpg

The tall tower is located where you've got the glass buildings in the SC4 map. The small ones could be represented by the short ATC towers in the ACE Modular Airport Pack. For the large one, I'm not so sure. there aren't really any good towers on the STEX to represent it. Maybe the Stratosphere Tower, but I don't know. Maybe you've got some ideas.

lol thanks 2.gif Wow, this is looking really good! I like your work on the low wealth condos, you put them toghether in the LE, right? I have done some housing projects, too, and the LE helps a lot.

However, great work, again, looking very much forward to more,

Looking brilliant but the general scale of the airport is waayy too big!

If you look at the ariel view you'll see that the different between the concourses is a bit too large 2.gif

very accurate and nice work! i have tried many times to recreate slc but have never suceeded. If anyone is interested in recreating bats for slc, pm me and I can provide pictures to assist with that. PLEASE SOMEBODY OUT THERE CREATE SOME SLC BATS. The surrounding metro is home to over 2.5 mil people, I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated.

    awesome city.

your region is awesome as it seems like a massive region and if its as big as it seems how did you take a photo of the whole thing.

    next, your suburbs are awesome.

there repetitive but in a good way. it looks awesome with trees and the way you have done your streets is awesome.

    really well done.

Well faithfully reproduced, and I am pleased to see a past Olympic Host City bought to life with SimCity 4, because with the help of Simtropolis it has become the best way to recreate cities.

    Keep up the good work.

That airport is nearly a spot on match... Impressive considering the limitations of SC4.

I'm not really a fan of building cities where things like normal suburban life are where commercial and residential are compacted together, like where I live, or some grimy middle class or grey cites, but damn this looks so good and realistic. :thumb:
