Aviation Trivia!!!

Welcome to the all new aviation trivia game!  After someone posted and bumped the original aviation trivia game, dead for 1 1/2 years, that got me thinking: a new aviation trivia game?  Simpler, and easier to follow?  Why not?

The game is basically a trivia game related to aviation (planes, airports, etc.) among the questions I will ask are to name the aircraft, airline and/or airport, etc.

There are only a few rules to this game:

Read the instructions properly.  If I post a picture and ask you 'what type of aircraft is that' and 'what airline is that,' you'll want to post both the type of aircraft and the airline... it pays to listen up!

Be specific, e.g. when I ask for type of aircraft (say a B747), you have to state whether it is a Boeing 747-100, 747-400, etc...

-Also, if I tell you to name the country where, say, an an airport is located, you must also name the state/province if this country is the US, Canada, U.K. or Australia (I will most likely hint this).

Do not edit your post.  If you edit your post we are most likely convinced that you are trying to edit your answer; if you've edited your post, your answer is void.  Also, remember to check your spelling!

Unless too many guesses are made and I provide a hint, you may not answer twice.

No obscenities.  We want to keep this game clean.

Regard the two post rule.  Unless it is me telling that you got it right first guess, you must always regard the two post rule and let others have a chance.

Please note that some hints may be blurred out of the image; otherwise... spoilers, spoilers...

There will not be a scoring system; this game is for fun and relaxation (after, say, uhh... a hard busy day BATting )

Anyway, the plane in question is a MiG-31, NATO codename Foxhound. Designed by Mikoyan. Picture take 1 Jan 1987.

(i should like to point out that military aircraft recognition is my thing, i was researching the 1.44 a while back and if i remember right that is the wiki stock image of the foxhound, plus he quoted the date taken, a common bit of info on wiki)

I'm trying to stay away from Wikipedia... but then again I cannot use pictures from sites such as www.airliners.net as the pictures are copyrighted.  I'll have to find a solution...

All pictures are protected, though the period varies. It's only if they're not placed in the public domain by the author, or the protection period has expired you can do what you want with them. That being said, generic pictures of planes would probably not be a problem, whereever you take them from.

Here's another one of these to throw you off course:

looks similar to a pilatus PC-7 (military utility) with the under prop radiator but the tail and wing shapes are different, also bears a stricking resemblance to a lockheed YO3-A,

it also bears similarities with the texan II trainer from raytheon aircraft....

it is definately post vietnam, you can tell by the fuselage casting work and the avionics package sitting underbelly, its a high visibility cockpit so is definitely a trainer or utility, not observation as it has hardpoints... and with an avionics package im tempted to say trainer.

i cant make out the wingtop markings, although the camouflage pattern is either mediterranean or south american, however it looks a little modern for south american, i wish i had my books here, anyway i have no definate guess just some pointers for the others.

edit - HAHA- i knew it was familiar, ive flipping flown one..... its a bleeding super tucano.....

The Swiss Pilatus PC-9M Hudournik was my first (qualified) guess, but further investigation reveals that this plane is indeed an Embraer EMB-314 Super Tucano from the Brazilian Airforce, which uses the ALX (EMB-314M) version (this being the two seater AT-29 if my soruces are correct).
