Street names question

I am thinking about getting this expansion but I have one question about it first that I'd like answered.  Is there a limit to the number of streets that can be named?  I'd like to name all of them but I just want to make sure that that's possible.  Thanks.

I haven't seen anything indicating that there is a limit for the number of streets you can name... I'm pretty sure it's however many your computer can handle3.gif

You have to know one thing, though. When you have named a street with a label and then upgrade the street or just add a crossroad, it's possible that the label disappears. So maybe it is not a good idea to put labels on all the streets, because this only causes troubles.

Street labels are one thing anyway. Rush Hour offers a bunch of other new functions which make SC4 enjoyable. And it also is must-have if you like to install some of the great BATs from the STEX. I really recommend to buy the expansion pack, no matter how many streets you can name...

Suggestion: You could make a road map (hand-drwan or on computer) where you write down the street names. Just an idea...

Like philscafe said, getting RH will really enhance your SC4 playing experience. With RH, you can use so many more of the BATs and other modds available here on ST.

RH by itself isn't anything special to be honest. It's just a couple more transportaion options and a few bells and whistles here and there. 19.gif

And no, I don't think there's a limit to how many streets you can name, but I don't really recommend it. Naming major highways and roads should be enough 48.gif.

Naiming every street and building is difficult and complicated. Just stick to labaling inportant things.

I've named every street in my main region and will name every new street I lay down. It gives the place some character.
It also helps you figure out where you are in UDI 2.gif

None of my cities are particularly huge (biggest is 10k I think), but the only problem I've seen with naming everything is somethimes a label or two will have mysteriously removed itself when I load up a city (which isn't too bad really given I've got hundreds per city).

Name them all? CrikeY? Why would you want to that?

I understand with some of you it's all about realism but what about your city whilst your naming them? Who's going to see all these names and lables? If you don't have a CJ up and running, only you will. I like to use lables for my major transport networks like avenues and highways, and perhaps a conjested street or two. It helps me keep track of where my UDi missions are goin.

Easy up! Think about your city first, and when you think it's perfect just the way it is, go crazy with the minor details!

Naming your streets helps with the U drive missions. That way in your favorite cities you can easily navagate your way around. But like in real life youll need to get used to the inlets and outlets before you can say your a U drive junkie.

I think that there should be a MOD where you click on a piece of road, name it, and the name would be embedded for the entire strech of road. That way you can click on any part of that strech of road and tha name will come up. Mabye they could do that for 5.

.. except when the name of the road changes at, say, and intersection. I also label highway and main route numbers, which can change while the road name doesn't. I'd just like to see the labels stay on the tiles when your working near them. 21.gif

I like being able to name my streets . . gives the city some character.  Although it's really hard trying to think up names for a city with 20,000 people next to another city with 27,000......

What I like best is naming a few country tracks in my farming cities, and watching them become major avenues/roads (although the name 'Micheal Lane' applied to a 4-way avenue doesn't make much sense 1.gif    )

My only problem is that once when I loaded my city half the names had disappeared - and not from adding crossroads and the like.  Very sad.

And you should be able to name freeways as well.

That's about all I have to say about it.........

Are there any of those 'cheats' or 'easter eggs' where if you name a street a certain thing, something special happens or develops on it?

Also is there any thing special in SC4, like the SimCity Castle from SC3, or the way which you could have a parade/carnival in SC3?
