Hi, this is my first CJ. Constructive criticism is encouraged.

Here we have the region of Drokstire (pronounced Droks-teer) that is currently inhabited and i will be focusing on  the area below in this first update.

Drokstire is a relatively mountainous, coastal region. The mountains are rich in coal and iron ore and several mining towns have begun to spring up. The railroad is the heart of the region, hauling Iron and coal to the steel mills in Warwae, and steel to the various building projects in the area. Plans are already in the works to build a seaport in the area west of Warwae as the demand for quality steel increases.

*pic removed for updating and editing*

Now we move on to the City of Warwae.

BTW i apologize for the double post but I'm just trying to organize things better and keep from losing my progress on the CJ.

Here we have the main residential district of Warwae. Warwae began as a small steel town that grew around the Warwae steel mill that was built in the small city. Soon more industries moved in as the railroad established Warwae as a major hub. Several smaller towns soon sprung up around the mines in the area of Warwae to provide the steel mills with Ore and Coal.residentialdistrict

Here we have the Coking plantscoking plants

And here we have the blast furnaces and railyard for the steel mill.

    railyard

And here we have some industry that has sprung up around the mill and the  2nd picture is industry that has sprung up around the  2 largest mines in the area.

Warwae soon became a major passenger railroad hub in addition to its freight rail. Amtrak trains run throught the city constantly, ferrying citizens to and from the neighboring towns. Here we see Warwae's busiest passenger station.

    passenger rail

Next we will see two more pictures of Warwae's residential districts and a picture of the main street. The first one is a housing communty and the second is some of the original housing of the town. McDonalds and Wendys are always competing for customers.

Here is one of the small mining towns that sprung up in the North East section of the area of Warwae. It is entirely dependent on rail for transportation to Warwae.

Finally i will leave you with two pictures of one of my favorite towns that has sprung up in the Warwae area.

Thank you for your time and thoughts. Next up will be the small mining town in the Altier Mountains.

I actually prefer the dirty industry. It also works for a steel mill city. Eventually it might become cleaner but right now I'm going to promote dirty industry. The city is loosly based on Bethlehem, PA. (i even downloaded the Bethlehem steel ploppable but i was unable to find it in the game)

Edit: very loosly based on it BTW. it has other influences too.

This looks really cool. I'm from NYC, so whenever I play a SimCity game, I always prefer to make small rural towns. It's a nice change of pace from sprawling cities.

Oh, "Drokstire!" At first glance I was like, "Dorkshire?? Oh no!" Haha!

Anyways, interesting stuff you have going on here. It'll be interesting to see a more industrial cj develop. I'm looking forward to more!

Nice job with the industrial content!

You mentioned constructive criticism: I don't really like the abandoned mansions. When they empty out, just bulldoze 'em!

I've decided to post my pics of Johnstown before my mining town.

The small town of Johnstown is a small farming community that sprang up around a BNSF refueling depot. The railroad plays a huge part in the transport of produce to Warwae and other cities along the mainline.

Here we see an areal view of the small town.

Two freight trains passing each other in the morning.

Now that Johnstown some of Johnstown is posted i shall post what i have of the small mining town in the Antair Mountains.

The small town of Georgetown sprang up when the demand for coal and ore caused the mines to spring up in the Antair Mountains. Georgetown serves as a home for the miners and a central shipping point for the ore and coal.

Here we have the area known as the Antair mountains.

AntierMountains-Jan29051207065361.pngand here we see the small town. Settled squarely between the two mineral rich hills.

Now for some pictures of the mines.

Well thats two of the outlying towns that feed Warwae with food and produce.

In a moment i will be posting an update of the industry in Warwae.

Here is my first update to the city of Warwae. The city has gone under a series of explosive growth in the past few years. Im just going to post a few pictures tonight, focusing on the industry and a few pics that i just enjoy. I hope that you will enjoy them too. More updates with pictures of the growth tomarrow.

Here we have a CN freight train loading cargo at the station.

Now I know why I couldn't see your beautiful pictures...I was using internet explorer.18.gif  I must say I'm really impressed so far, I absolutely love your use of trains, your railroads, yards, stations etc. all look so realistic (I'm a rail fan myself lol).  One little suggestion though...could you maybe use a slope mod of some kind?  The bumpiness of the terrain detracts from the realism of the railroads, and other things.

Other than that though, it's coming along very well...BNSF and CN are actually a couple of my favorites; next to CSX that is (I know, I'm such a train nerd).  Looking forward to more! 4.gif

sry bout them not being jpg. i will make the rest of my pictures jpg files. i have issues with the slope mod because it causes my railroads to not be able to go through mountainous terrain.

edit i think that i might have found a slope mode that works for me.

    Its time to update again.

For tonights update we will start off with some pics of Warwae before heading to some of the neighboring towns that have sprung up in the region.

Tragedy struck today as a malfunction at the soaking pits caused and explosion that quickly turned into and inferno at the steel mill. City firefighters were quick to the scene and after battling the blaze for over 4 hours, the fire was finally extinguished. Warwae steel had to shut down one of its production facilities for repairs but they expect to reopen it at the end of the month.

    warwaemar28341207167615bt3.jpg

Next we will take a quick look at the residential growth that has sprung up recently.

    warwaejun8301207153720np4.jpg

    warwaejun15301207153752vk0.jpg

    warwaejun22301207153775qx6.jpg

    warwaeapr24311207154095qg2.jpg

Now we will move out to Sea and take a quick look at the Little Tall Island. A small fishing community. Then we will take a look at the coastal city of Golden.

    littletallislanddec2701gr8.jpg

The seaport town of Golden was recently founded when demand for steel overseas made it cost effective to build a seaport. Golden is still growing so expect more pictures when it gets fully established.

    goldenfeb24031207154675sq2.jpg

    goldenfeb24031207154850cs2.jpg

Here we can see some of the higher tech industries that have sprung up in the area.

    goldennov28021207154468zm7.jpg

Now we will take a quick focus on the town of Durango. Durango was established for the more prosperous workers of Warwae's industrial facilities that wanted to get away from the pollution.

    durangoaug2005120715341us5.jpg

Here is one of the nicest parts of town.

    durangoaug1405120715339jo5.jpg

The morning Mill Express takes hardworking steel mill employees to their long day at the mill.

    durangosep1051207153510kl2.jpg

Next we will take a look at Verin Pass. Cut through the mountains, Verin Pass connects Warwae with the distant town of Drakken and provides more ore and coal for the steel mill from the mining towns of Nirenia Basin and Lira falls.

Here we see the small town of Nirenia Basin. The larger of the two towns in the area, Nirenia Falls provides Warwae with the precious minerals from the mines on  the north mountain.

    verinpassaug28001207171zk2.jpg

Here we see the mining complex atop the north mountain. A switchback railroad zigzags down the steep slope allowing more ore to be hauled than a traditional road. (I really enjoy the switchback. Im glad that i got a good slope mod or else it wouldn't have been as rewarding. Thanks for pressuring me into getting one lol)

    verinpassaug25001207171ns3.jpg

Here we see the main freight station of Nirenia Basin. This is where all of the ore, coal and grain from the farms is shipped out back to Warwae.
