Some other great looking farms... I always wondered why Maxis put farms in that game, since it was called Sim City. But now that I'm creating a farming town too, I must say that building farms can be very entertaining...

Great work Nardo.

this is the first time I see the wildflower lots in a CJ. Darmok is right. You do make beautiful rural communities.
Those grape fields on that slope look good. Also I like your extensive use of the BSC dirt roads between your fields.

Looks like a bit of problem with the length of the train in pic 3.7. Long train and only a small station. Had a big laugh with your discussion with mr Schlaubauer. Being the mayor and being in power are two different things I guess.

And I like your avatar from Sokal, inspector Canardo. I recognize the album but alas not in my posession. I always wished I had bought them.

    Hello to All!!

    First of all:

Thank You for your intererst in my small, humble CJ!

There are so much nice, beautiful CJ here on ST so it isn't kind of nothing that there are now 3 pages and more than 1000 (!) 44.gifviews after just one month!

    @Darmok: Thanks for the compliment43.gif!
About the Wildflowers, I perfectly agree with you but as I am neither a BATter nor good with the LE (I tried but the results ... 45.gif) I was looking a long time for some nice lots to be placed next to streets (see pic 2.3 and 2.4). I guess I will redo them with the wildflowers too.

    @Traffic_Jam: Thanx for the compliment!

@jacqulina: I'll do my very best!!!

@dhoppeii: Thanx for the compliment. As I wrote to Darmok I was searching for such lot(s) quite some time since the sides of streets are quite rich of flowers and insects.

@PhilsCafe: Nice to see you again!
About the farms: I really missed them in SC2K. In SC3K I was making some experience with the farms but was never satisfied because after some time they became all industrial. In my early SC4 regions there are almost no frams. From time to time I made some of them but whenever I tried to expeand them there was no more demand for agriculture ...
It was quite this region (and of course a lot of inspirements from ST) that I discoverd the farms and I must confess I have more fun with them than creating Skyscraper forrest ...

@raindog: Hey, someone found out about my acatar44.gif! Inspektor Canardo is one of my alltime favorites and as there is some resemblance with my name ... 10.gif9.gif
I like to use the dirtpaths since where I come from some of the rural streets are paved and some are just dirt paths. And I must confess I don't like dirt streets appearing in villages (yes, I am German... ) that's why I don't use the dirt street mod(s) but the lots ...
The train, well, I already thought I should look for a nice skin to replace the original ... I should look around if someone made the German 628 or ask Oppie ...
And Mr. Schlaubauer, well, I have the certain feeling he will come again into this CJ ... Hopefully he won't ring again on 4:30 am ... 22.gif30.gif41.gif

    @All>: Have Fun!

    Nardo

    Hi Nardo,

I just found something u can use next to the roadside.
I will show you in attached pic of my test city. (the Workbench is very handy for testing with an unlimited amount of money available).

I have used the pedestrian mall-tiles from the NAM in this pic, just tab until you get to the grass lot. Big advantage is that they are very cheap as well.

    help me out. . .

    Hello to All!!

A bit later than my normal schedule but it has been a busy week for me ...

@jacqulina: I hope you like waht's following! Allways a pleasure to see you posted here!! 29.gif

@raindog: You think like this (it's from a city of Urland that is under heavy construction by now as you can see in the small map):
    tp0013fm.jpg
    Pic TP001
Hmm, I have to work on this further, you're right, a possible alternative ... I am about to install some more mayor tree mods, let's see if they fit together ... Thanks for the hint!!!! 44.gif

@Madhollander: Just go to the traffic view and choose the pedestrian tiles. The first one appearing on my pc is the standard ground thing with the lantern. Then press tab - you should circle then through all those tile and find the grass one together with some other nice stuff!!! 19.gif49.gif

But now late but not too late:

    Update Nr. 6

    hochd619we.jpg
    Pic 6.1
Another overview, this time from the other direction and in the winter (see PEG's trees)... It is a bit sad that the wildflowers are just green in that zoom level, on the other hand - it is wintertime there ....
The village with the Maxi's churchtemplewhatsoever is to be found in the left upper corner. Today we'll have a look on the main village and the other two villages
As you can see the whole terrain is slopy and increasing its height from the bottom to almost the top of the Pic. There is still some free space left here but I stopped developing this city untill upgrading my RAM and installing CP mod ...
BTW As you can see the main roads go quite strait whereas the small streets are winding thru the village. I did this by purpose: you only get main traffic out of these small streets if they are a longer trip than the mainroads!

    hochd628tg.jpg
    Pic 6.2
A view on Hochdorf. You can see its main characteristic spots: St. Marienkirche (St. Mary's Church) and the windmill. The buildings are mainly low rise R$ and R$$.

edit: uuups, that was too fast, a lot more pics are coming!!!! Uploaded and finished

    hochd633fh.jpg
    Pic 6.3
Remember Pic 5.2? Same intersection but a different angle, and again those wildflower lots. The road is leading to Richeff, the small village in the middle of Pic 6.1
@All: Does anybody know which props are missing on the small farm? I think it is from SimGoober ...

    hochd640ft.jpg
    Pic 6.4
Richeff. The name is coming from reich houf, meaning reach farm. Quite old village but never important. It's inhabitants are mainly workers on the farm. You can find the road from pic 6.3 in the top right corner.
Let's leave now to Weiler. Weiler means small village.

    hochd650lz.jpg
    Pic 6.5
Weiler, the last of the thre small villages belonging to the administration of Hochdorf. Nothing special too, just some nice housings and farms in a rural hilly landscape. Let's have a close look at it though!

    hochd660yr.jpg
    Pic 6.6
I must confess I really like this grape farm! The Busstop is a japanese one with low costs, low capacity and most importantly low amount of people working! Shmail made a lot of really nice busstops including a rural one but they all give work to a whole village of this kind ...
And the waffleking, well, nice BAT but it appears EVERYWHERE ...
But have a look a this cute cottage house next to it from RP. I LOVE THEM - they just don't appear quite often ... 34.gif

    hochd677rb.jpg
    Pic 6.7
Another look on Weiler. Again with some nice cottages and a bigger LOT frm RP. Especially the big one is hard to develope ...

That's all for today, Ladies and Gentlemen!
Hope you like what I showed you! Next time will be a different city.

    Untill then:

    Have fun!

Nardo, the more I visit the more I like, your style is unique and different! My favorite one this time is 6.5, that residential sector on that U shaped road with the farm house at the end of the dirt entrance with those poplars? tree.

And as always the way you follow the terrain!

    I really like it !

    Take care Nardo!

    Hello to all!

@Darmok: Glad you like it! Whenever I do an update I am not sure if I can sustain my quality ...

@Kwakelaar: Nice to see you again! Especially after I found this on the STEX:

What a superb little jewel of a small church!!!!!!29.gif16.gif44.gif44.gif Rated it 10/10 (couldn't give you more ...). I used it by now several times in my newer villages, be prepared to see it here in the near future!
(I cannot reach the STEX by now so I will add the link later!!) edit: Link inserted

    @Traffic_Jam: Thanks for the compliment!

Good work on everything dude, you've created some really nice rural areas with all those custom lots and BATs! If I may make one suggestion...when you take pictures, you should turn up all the detail settings to high, it looks like props and such are missing from the houses, commercial buildings, etc.

    Hello to All!!

@Shadow_Assassin: Thanks for the compliment! Nice to see you here too!!

@RadioheadFan: Thanks for the hint! I was wondering where all those details went to... Now I know, but I know too why I went to medium detail: need to wait up to a minute to make a good shot ... I need definately more RAM and/or should remove some files out of my plugin directory ...

    Hello to All!!

    I have a good and a bad message for you ... 41.gif

First the bad one: I am going off to holiday. As I
    a) don't have a laptop and
    b) promised my wife not to play SC4 in my holiday this will be probably the last update until end of this month ... [:0]34.gif

The good one: Since I have some time now this will be an extraordinairy big one and there will be a poll!!! (and as I am about to upgrade my RAM after the holiday I guess I will finally install CyclePuppy's great landscape mod!!!!2.gif)

If you have a slow connection, please have some patient by now, huge amount of graphics ahead!!! 31.gif4.gif

    So, here it is,

    Update 7, Part I

I showed you a bit from a big and a medium city. There are some small ones though, let me show you two of them.

Let's start with the village with the little church from Kwakelaar I showed you before: Einsiedeln. It isn't fully developed yet though.

    einsiedel7011sk.jpg
This roads leads directly to Kaltwasser. You'll get to learn this village in the second part of the update.

    einsiedel7038il.jpg
    Pic 7.2
Einsiedeln Oberdorf (Upper Village. Not much to say, a bit commerce, some wood, a nice water well.

    einsiedel7024xn.jpg
    Pic 7.3
A detail of that well. It suppliers whole Einsiedel with fresh, cool and clean water.

    einsiedel7043ec.jpg
    Pic 7.4
Einsiedeln Unterdorf (Lower Village) Can you spot Kwakelaars nice little church?

As I am said still under construction but I am really enthusiastic about this church (and well, I like how Einsiedel developed, too).

edit: wrong buton 45.gif, there is more to follow!

The second village I want to introduce to you is Kaltwasser. Kaltwasser is a direct neighbour of all towns/villages I showed you before. It has no main road connection and is a quite place to live and ride horses in its pine tree forrests and around its lake. The name means Cold Water.
The scientistic explanation is that the water from the well wasn't warmer than 13

    Update 7, Part II

As I promised, a big one! But first:

@Codythemonkey,@scififan68 and @GLENNI: Thanx for your (early) comments!! I hope you saw all of Part 1 since I pressed the submit button too early ....

And here comes the rest, nothing special, just some teasers so you don't forget me ... 2.gif:

    Teaser 1:

Ploce, inspired by the harbour town in Croatia yet it developed quite different:

    ploce7117oa.jpg
    Pic 7.11
View to St Johannes and the market. The big street is Porkissimo Boulevard, it is the main access to the historical center of Ploce. On the top left corner of the pic you can see a bit of its big Marktplatz (market place)

    ploce7120gc.jpg
    Pic 7.12
The railway bridge is the only connection between the old and the new part of Ploce (and the first bridge I build in Urland at all ...)

    Teaser 2:

Again green, again mmmh ... rural with a lot of dirt trails and we may meet Mr. Schlaubauer here since he has one of his cabins here: Gr

Hello Nardo, you are making me very proud to put my small church in your CJ, I am glad you liked it.43.gif This is a first for me. I am working on the next church, also romanesque in style but a bit bigger this time.

I am sorry but I can not see all of the pictures that you have put in your last updates (also not the region/traffic shots). Don't know if it just me or if something is wrong?
The city of Ploce is looking very good, you are making good use of the w2w BAT's that have been released on the STEX. And Ploce is also my choice for the next update.

Futher, I would love to see how you will make a bigger city and therefor Region C get my vote.

PS I see some blue signs from the U-Drive-it thing, you know that you can turn those off quite easily? Have a look under the my sims button.

Have a nice holiday, and your wife is right NO SIMCITY ON YOUR HOLIDAY28.gif

Great updates. I particulrly like the rural feel but also the industrial part. Very realistic, I'm impressed. The town center of Ploce looks great too.
