I am having trouble installing the game.

When I put the CD in the drive, it will detect it cd, I can explore it, but it wont really recognize it.

It will not show the SC4 logo on 'My Computer'.

When I manually open the Setup.exe file, nothing happens.

When I manually open the Autorun.exe I get this error message:

Could not copy 'E:\PROGRA~1\DESKSC~1\Autorun.exe' to 'C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\Autorun.exe'

When I click 'OK' I get another error:

The specified file was not found.

I tried running the setup.exe as administrator, set compatiblity as Windows XP SP2, and Windows 2000. nothing helps.

pc specs:

E6600

4gb memory 800mhz

x1950xt

Vista ultimate x64

So there is no chance to get it to work?

and I found this on this forum:

"I've been running Vista ultimate 64 bit edition since release day, i've had no problems, in my opinion it runs better than it did on xp, for me at least anyways"

So it should run on x64...

But I guess nobody has an idea to fix my problem..

    EDIT:

This is new. I've tried it again and put in the CD. It won't autorun, so I doubleclick on the cd. Now it acts like I've put in a blank disc.

It opens a small window, with the title: "Burn a Disc" and "Prepare this blank disc", it asks me to fill in a Disc Title.

I can't help you with your problem but can assure you that SC4 does run on Vista Ultimate 64bit. I have it installed and running with no problems. I did use SC4 Deluxe edition just for information. My copy loaded just as expected when I inserted the CD unlike your problem. Maybe try to install on another computer if you have access to one and see what happens. Hope you find an answer.

I have vista x64 with 4gb 800mhz ram and the game install and runs perfectly, interesting issue, I would recommend not running the autorun or setup in compatibiltiy mode such as windows xp sp2.  You may want try getting copy of simcity4 deluxe from a friend and try installing with your rush hour cd key that may solve your issue.

the cd's are perfectly fine, no scratch or anything whatsoever.

I don't exactly know what I did, but I installed Daemon Tools, (which is used to mount cd-images), but next thing I know is that it is able to find the cd, and the setup.exe file works perfectly. I really don't understand this.

I can understand that if you read this it looks like I pirated the game or something, but I want to assure you that isn't the case.

Oh, another thing that could be the case, why it works now, is that I restarted the computer. this was to enable daemon tools to install, but maybe a restart is necessary for the compatibility mode to get activated or something.. meh, I don't know what was the problem.

I'm just happy my SimCity works again now.
