Honestly i don't belive in Pictures. But Spiegel,CNN and BBC are qualitity press and I prefer listen to them then to yellow press like FOX,RTL or BILD.

But why close China Tibet for Reporters and TV-Stations. I think they dont want the world to see whats happening there. It is nearly the same situation then 1989 during the Tiananmen Square protest.

That's the exact reason. From the perspective of the Chinese government, the less the rest of the world knows about this uprising, the better. I really hope these protests can survive, it would be such an amazing success for the Tibetian people if they weren't granted freedom from China.

It would probably look a little different today SimFox. I doubt slavery would be on the menu if the United States returned to a confederation today, even though it was alive an well last time.

Whuuu, it's a shame!! Honestly, we are talking about a n ex-culturally- indipendent country taken by a regime! Be aware of that! It's a shame how the Chinese government treats minorities, especially the Tibetains and the Dalai Lama. And it's embarasing how obviously a regime acts to wipe out any positive, human thought! The parallism is alarming, yet minor to the past: no one was responding when Hitler celebrated the Olympic Games in Berlin '36, when he already was Reichskanzler. No one will be responding when the Olympic Games take place in Bejing this year;- it's said to be about the sports, not an political affair. How disgusting. In the so- called name of sports (and money) will the others suffer, be killed, be torn away by force from their culture? What a very, very correct and cosy world we're living in... unfortunately it's always less people who get it!

Do not only think about that, but think.

I think krbe pretty much covered it. You can't really use that as rational. Tibet would surely be better off without China's oppressive rule as long as an open society and government took its place.

I´am German and what my country did in the 2.WW was perhaps the worst thing what happend in the history of humanity, but remember 1989 when the People of East Germany demonstrated peacfully to be free by communism. And what happend no Russian and no GDR soldier shoot at the people.

And today Germany is a quite peaceful country, even because they accepted the the peoples oppion to be free.

    Olympic torch lit despite protest

The Olympic torch has been lit at a ceremony in Greece that was briefly disrupted by pro-Tibet activists.

Protesters from media rights group Reporters Without Borders broke through the cordon of 1,000 police officers in Olympia as China's envoy spoke.

Activists had vowed to protest over the violence in and around Tibet.

The torch will now be carried around Greece before being sent to China to start a journey through 20 countries, returning to Beijing on 8 August.

The route includes the torch being taken to the top of Mount Everest and through Tibet.

As Liu Qi, head of the Beijing Olympic organising committee, spoke ahead of the torch lighting, three men broke into the ceremony venue.

One ran up behind him attempting to display a black flag depicting the Olympic rings made from handcuffs.

The men were from the France-based media rights watchdog Reporters Sans Frontieres (Reporters Without Borders, or RSF), which has called for a boycott of the opening ceremony of the games.

Well, boycotts rarely work in the first place, but a boycott of just the opening ceremonies? Seems pointless to me. But is it really a surprise? No... the IOC knew what they were getting into when they chose Beijing and so did much of the world. The violence in Tibet is no surprise, either... I know I'm not surprised. I'm also not surprised the Chinese government tried to spin the protests in their favor by blaming the Dalai Lama for inciting violence. I'm more likely to incite violence in Tibet than the Dalai Lama.

The Chinese government is going to put on a show to prove they're all goodie goodie, but deep down they are the same communist China as before. I'm rooting for Tibet in this one.

yes, we should all break up every single country because assimilation and absorption of cultures definitely haven't been happening since Communist China existed.
