Well hello Simtropolis! After months and months of reading and wincing with jealousy from other people's CJs, I have finally decided to just go out there and make my own. Welcome to

banner.png

This CJ is not about a single city or nation, rather about an entire galaxy. It will be light on history and will not tell the tale of the galaxy growing, but will rather highlight a different planet each post. It will show images of the planet, some backstory and what's going on. 9.gif Some planets will be uninhabited, some agricultural, some covered entirely in city, each different. I now leave you with some teasers.

RixxIntroductory.png

Hydrogen mining on the gas giant Rixx. Most mining complexes on gas giants are massive clusters, but this is a lone tower. The image is foggy because of all the swirling gasses 1.gif

eyecandy.jpg

A thin line of civilization runs through the otherwise unspoiled jungles of Har'teb.

Techsquare2.jpg

A new day dawns over the central square of the city covered planet Xetus. Xetus is well known for it's blue flora and increasing rich-poor divide problems. Central square appears wealthy enough and clean, but Xetus is under increasing problems from overpoplulation, pollution and slums popping up everywhere.

Remember this is my first CJ, So please be kind 1.gif

And yes, this is photoshopped to hell and back

    ZYKON

    Population: 1000021

    Development: 5/10

    Wealth: 5/10

    Quality of Life: 2/10

Size: About the same as Earth

    Moons: None

    Zykonintro.jpg

Zykon was colonised 621 years ago by the Saiyakhans, and got its independence 300 years ago. Zykon is an odd choice of planet to colonise. Why? It could be the fact that there are no natural resources, food or water, the average daily temperature is 400 farenheit and breathing in the air will cause a painful death within minutes. As you can see here, there are not roads, but tubes. These tubes are huge inside, and contain freeways, footpaths and shops. Poor people live in slummy rooms in the side of the tubes, but the middle class and the rich live in domed buildings that protrude above the ground. To cross the canyons filled with lava, the tubes will turn into elevated rail with super heat proof capsules that travel along them. The elevated rail goes across the entire planet.

    lavapit.jpg

A picture taken from a fast moving super heat proof capsule, showing a rare, now unused ground rail bridge. One may notice the blue and green around the shore- this is an extremely toxic algae that has an icnredibly widespread population all across Zykon. There has not been ground rail since the days of the Saiyakhan empire's rule, so there is Alga growing up it from abandonment.

    zykoncity.png

Probably one of the largest settlements on Zykon, this city is called T'Soni, named after the one who got Zykon independence from the Saiyakhans, Liara T'Soni. The actual city stretches for hundreds of kilometres underground, with 5 star resorts and everything all completely underground. The Massive Tower is Liara Tower and contains a massive 40% of the population of T'Soni. The algae can be seen all along the shore even here.

    bunkers.jpg

One of only 6 exits from the underground system to the actual surface of the planet. This exit, which is in a place called Oni Bend, is more than 400 kilometres form civilisation, and 50 minutes along the rapid transit. While these exits are used for science, this one is used for executions; when a person in Zykon commits a terribly heinous crime they are pushed out onto the surface and are watched as they die. Real Nice.

Well, that's all the info there is on Zykon. Tell me what you think 1.gif

Nice job! I really like it. I tried to make another planet with SimCity 4 once, but failed miserably. You have officially stunned me. Trust me, I completely felt like I was being taken to another planet, and it was just amazing. Bring me more!

Oh, and your pictures exceed 800x600. You'll need to resize them.

Looks great and realistically sterile (as much as a space colony can be realistic nowadays, lol!), I like the reddening effect! 2.gif

    THIS CJ IS CLOSED.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but I'm going to close this CJ. There won't be any more updates.

While I could have lied (and was originally going to) that my PC crashed and I lost my galaxy, that wouldn't have been fair to you guys. The reality is that this was a stupid time to start a CJ, because now is my exams and tests and... for the next week or two it's going to be all out WORK! WORK! WORK! And the trouble is that this has distracted me a little and I'm not as into Simcity 4 as I was a week ago. I started playing my 360 again (shame)

So, yeah. Don't get pissed off, because I'm telling the truth and it was hard to decide to close my CJ. Very. One day I will get into SC4 again and not have all this work and then, THEN I will make another CJ. But until then, goodbye and happy forumings 9.gif

I will return one day. I will continue to lurk around ST and download from the STEX, as well as downloading some of the wonderful BATs you guys continue to make. I will still be playing SC4, and in a few weeks, who knows? The galaxy may rise again from the ashes of the homework quasar 4.gif
