Before my hiatus from ST starting in November, the site was in a big mess...  Any threads intended for civil discussion were being shut down because of a few people coming in and ruining the conversation.  Copy cat "I hate TM" threads were rampant.  Hell, even the RHW development thread was being threatened to be locked.  I was so frustrated with the site that I left for a bit, and focused on other things.

Now, I am back (obviously) and have noticed a BIG change in the way ST is working.  Everyone seems to be getting along again, and things seem to be running smoothly.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the ST community for coming together and ending the senseless bickering (for the most part 2.gif ).  I would especially like to thank the mods, and even those who aren't, but often act as peacekeepers in the (occasional) battleground of the forums.  I think all is back to normal now. 9.gif

Just something I've noticed this week... 4.gif

Well put, I noticed Simtrop has improved alot when it comes to being civil within the last little while aswell. It's great to have a member return to the community too. I'm sure the mods like to hear a thank you once in a while lol.

St is kinda like a country when it comes to this, sometimes it's all peace and quiet, sometimes it's a full blown civil war11.gif

Well, thats not to say that little fights happen in isolated threads/sections, but it has certainly calmed down. I don't think I've seen one off-topic thread locked since I've been back. 3.gif

Ive found the people who make the fights bad are the people who try to act like moderators and rant about being nice and following the rules.

generally, this site is peaceful, butoccasionally we have a bad month here and there (july was awful!)

Just like the economy nowadays. And just like the economy guys, we forget everything how good things were in the past, and that everytime there was a troubled period, we had months of good ones2.gif

No wonder about July--too many people having holidays at the same time11.gif Or might it just be the heat?

The website, in certain areas, has its highs and its lows. Currently, we're not having any problems, but that won't stop a few from turning a thread into a knock-down drag-out.

Trust me, when we have fights in the threads on this website, they are nothing compared to other forums I've been on. This is probably one of the friendliest websites I've ever been on, even during the rough times! I've been to websites where even the moderators get in the flame war and threaten to ban you if you disagree with them. Talk about an abuse of power, this coming from a moderator. 3.gif I've never witnessed that on Simtropolis before, thankfully.

I'm supposing you're talking about the Current Event forum. That's certainly something I myself can improve upon, but sometimes religious and political threads are unretrievable from normality. Here's my advice whenever someone does that: Ignore them. Move along and let the staff handle the individual.

    Anyway...

I realize you meant to say a simple "Thank you" to the community and it was a great notice. 9.gif

Things have been bumpy here and there, I'll give you that. Just look at some of the larger, older threads that still exist on ST today. If you look through them, you can see all the scars that have been inflicted on them.

But, in time all scars heal. These threads seem to look like an economic timeline. There are prosperous times, recessions, DEEP depressions, and recoveries.

The line of time is not straight.
