Outline

First of all, everything in this city journal is fictional, except for the fact that there is an Oberhausen in Germany. (That isn't the one in this story) Second of all, this is my first city journal, and I will try to update as soon as possible, but I am very busy during the weekdays. And thirdly, enjoy!

Intro

As you may have read already, this is the story of the last town on earth- Oberhausen. You are probably wondering how this town came to be the last, and what happened to it. Lucky for you, that is what this story is about. Before we get to that, we must travel back 43 years to 2024....

Oberhausen was the first of many planned suburbs of the huge city of St. Justine. This was mostly because St. Justine did not want to get rid of industry to make room for the sprawling city.

Back then, Oberhausen was huge. It had a population of around three thousand and was the place to live.

Remember, this is fictional!

Around November, an unexpected fire started near Oberhausen's vital hydrogen plants.jan31sd0.png

Eventually, the mysterious fire was put out by locals.  (the fire department was being repaired after a vandalism)

A few weeks later, a tornado that wasn't even supposed to exist in this region came. Now, before you see the picture, you have to meet our charector, Seamus McFilligan.

(exert from Seamus's diary)

I am starting to get worried. A few weeks ago there was a mysterious fire at the hydrogen plant. I have been watching the news, and there are weird things happening everywhere, tornadoes in London, earthquakes in Alaska, floods in Switzerland! I think that the world is coming to an end. I told my friends this, but they just laughed at me. Oh well, I might as well enjoy life and not worry so much.

As you can tell, our Seamus has quite the imagination, or so the others think. No, they are wrong. Seamus is right, the world is coming to an end, but not as Seamus predicted. Infact, the rest of the world is coming to an end, even parts of Oberhausen, but not Seamus's street...

Anyways, the surprise tornado caused massive damage, and killed about 30 citizens. There is no picture because the municipal landing strip was destroyed, along with the media's helicopters. Right before the tornado ends, a massive fire breaks out. (the following photo was taken by Seamus from his private helicopter) The pictures are in sequence from beginning to end.

The fires start in the south west corner, rapidly spreading north west, towards the hydrogen plant.

(you can also kind of see the destruction from the tornado in this photo)

Here the fire is nearing the hydrogen plant, and the mayor issues a red alert to evacuate the city. Meanwhile, earthquakes rock the foundations of St.Justine and soon move to Oberhausen, causing even more destruction.

After about half an hour, the hydrogen plant finally catches on fire.

Once you've read this, can you tell me if it is any good? And if not, what I should do to make it better. That is just so I can make better CJs in the future.

Note: The second picture is not of Oberhausen. This is because I lost the original picture, and when I went  to take it again, Oberhausen was in it's "last town on earth" stage.

ANOTHER NOTE: due to recent events, I can no longer opperate this city journal. Thanks for redaing and replying. Once I sort the event out, I might make another CJ.

    Thanks Again,

    Ian

Welcome to Simtrop and the world of City journals. You have an okay start, interesting story. I can't see the top pictures though. You need to covert them to JPEG format and use an image hosting site.

For help click this link. It's a very helpful guide. It's a bit of a read but you'll find it very useful.

For inspiration, maybe take a look at other city journals.

the name of your CJ is kinda confusing. I've expected a CJ of a city I live close to, because this city is called oberhausen. 9.gif

    the canals are very nice.

artoxb: The name goes with the rest of the region, a dutch-swiss-germen mix of architecture and names. Credit for the canals in St.Justine go to Oopie and the people who made some of the expansion sets. 4.gif
