Hello Simtropolis Forums!

This city journal employs the practice of a democratic republic. Here is the deal there will be one president (me ) as the region grows so will the number of representitives and your involvment. The first few desicions will be decided purely democraticly. After that we will run our first elections for our first representitves. You can aply when I post the first election, but Ill save that for a later time.

The first major desicion is the matter of where will the Johnson settlers settle where they do.

Choice one:

Coastal

Pro's: Opens up shipping lanes, can use coastal area's for hotels and resorts brings high wealth into the area. Lots of money, thats good obviously.  

Con's: Water= less land= less people to get tax$= less money = lower quality stuff = less happy people 

Choice two:

River

Pro's: Still some shipping lane, some resort area's, dosnt take up as much land as a coastal region

Con's: not condusive to higher class residents as a coastal area. Less high wealth residents and less of there money.

Choice three:

Plains

Pro's: Max land for max profit, no hills so everything is built level, makes building cheep and easy

Con's: No shipping, all has to be done by rail which can result in some confusing transit lines 

Choice four: 

Moutains

Pro's: Nice sceenery, harder to build housing, so lots are farther apart, things are more localised, very entising to middle and upperclass residents

Con's: Housing is expensive, costs and expensess are high. Profit is not as high because of lower housing numbers

I choose the river setting because in game your city's "scenery" doesn't seem to have an impact on you Sim's settlement. Great use of politics though, I know who I'm voting for for the '08 election! Can't wait for more!

I will go for coastal, because coastal cities have good climate, and are very versatile.

How about kinda of a coastal river, like portland.... so a really big river with many islands and two mainlands that maybe opens up to a coast

ok so coastal region it is. Ill get started on that right away.

First up is to build a small farming town to get the region finacialy on track.

But before that can get done we must elect a mayor.

Mayors get a special voting 2 vote privilage in there town and border towns. Also as the region grows only mayors can run for higher office like senator and so on.

If you wish to run for mayor of Town A (too be named by the winner) please send me a PM (any post on here saying I want to be mayor for this town will be ignored) with that you must send me your platform (I will except the first 3 candidates of different platforms if there are 2 people with the same platform there will be a primary between them) Please have the candiate slips in by 10PM EST today (December 8th 2007) to have a chance to be the first mayor in the region.
