But, at the same time, I would rather have a candidate who is not a life-long politician (I believe those who live their lives in politics lose all touch of reality with their constituents - look at the "bubble" many talk that Bush has been living in for many years).

In fact, should I find any of them spent five years or more after high school in the "real world", aka has worked as an hourly associate, then they would garner some extra points from me.quote>

Greg & VT: I agree with both of you.  I don't think all of the answers to the questions ran a strict 0-8 ideological spectrum.  There were several answers that I think I would have given simultaneously or as tie if possible on either left or right.

Duke, gotta love you buddy, but I hope you realize that sometimes you come across as the character in the third panel  "...so I AM right."

Mike Gravel is a bottom-tier candidate and he will stay that way because he supports full marriage rights and benefits for gay couples. Still, I'm voting for him come hell or high water. Not just for that, but because I agree with him generally on almost everything. 9.gif

I'm very pleased to see Gravel popping up on many peoples' results though. The quiz isn't perfect, of course, but it's interesting and fun. 4.gif

YAY! Obama is #1 (on sooo many levels)

but uggh...     Clinton.

Anyway, I had changed my opinion on an Iraq question... and had to re-take the question... hence the extra tab on the top..

My first (with some "what would obama do?" answers)

OBAMANATOR.jpg

Okay... I tried to be more real (and less obamaish..) with my answers... and this is what I got.

Does Mike Gravel even go to the Democratic debates? I've never seen him.

hmmm . . . I do believe there are people who want to turn the US into a theocracy but I do not believe most Mormons are among them.   A bit conservative for my tastes (I don't consider caffeine a drug to avoid, for instance) but I think they are less dangerous than the people who actually have the agenda of turning the US into a theocracy.

and I don't see how it's my business what kind of underwear the candidates wear.  quote>

Not your business what kind of underwear the candidates use? Tempel Garments might be more subtle than if Hillary wore a niqab, but religious clothing nonetheless.

Mitt Romney is probably the candidate who has to be most politician -- explaining how little religion means in politics, yet at the same time tell his audience who important it is.

Coming from a country where the the candidates religion never are discussed (either some form of Christianity, or atheism), it's astonishing to see how important it is in US politics. We do have priests in Danish politics though; two of the leading figures in the non-elitist Danish Popular Party are theologians (the other leading figures is a lawyer and one with a master in Business Law...) -- it's a joy to see them preach "love thy neigbour´".

It is not my business what kind of underwear the candidates use.  I don't know who wears boxers, briefs, or goes commando and I don't care.  It's not my business.  Yes, the lives of politicians get a lot of scrutiny but checking their underwear is going a bit far.

For those who don't know, Mormons are supposed to dress modestly, and to this end, devout Mormons wear special underwear which is always supposed to be covered by their clothing.  Your point seems to be that since it's religiously inspired underwear, it's a problem.  My point is, I don't go around checking people's underwear and don't see why I should start now.

Mitt Romney is probably the candidate who has to be most politician -- explaining how little religion means in politics, yet at the same time tell his audience who important it is. quote>

Basically, he said the same thing Kennedy said when he was running.  That he would be making decisions based on what would be best for the country, not what his religion dictates.  Quite frankly, I wish more candidates took that position.

Hm...My top three seem to always be either Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, or Chris Dodd...

Thats actually not a surprise to me, Ron Paul is probably going to be my #1, Mike Huckabee is definately my backup though. I think that Ron Paul is heavily overlooked by the liberal media, it seems to be that he really can make a difference, plus he's a Republican with his head on straight, and that can be difficult to find. (I'm actually a Conservative Democrat...and yes that is completely possible).

I think the Democrats really need to get with it here, if they don't let someone stand out and stick with it, then the Republicans can snatch up a victory. (Hopefully Ron Paul). It seems all the good candidates are over-shadowed by the ones we don't necessarily like (Hillary comes to mind...then Obama)...

Weird, I got:

#1: John Edwards

#2: Sam Brownback

#3: Mike Gravel

John Edwards sounds okay. I like Mike Gravel, Bill Richardson and Barrack Obama too, especially since he's been exposed to other cultures in his childhood so he would probably do better with global issues.

Thank GOD I didn't get Hilary... lol

I also did one to see which candidates I'd completely disagree with 3.gif:

#1 Mitt Romney

#2 Fred Thompson

#3 Duncan Hunter

I did that and got the exact same results.

Apparently I disagree with Romney, even if I don't care about his underwear.  18.gif

I know off-topic again, but there is a place to find these vanished bits of content.

...in case you're wondering, that's one of about a dozen strips which made up a satire/commentary comic called "High On Life" (I have only two of them on my hard drive, though). Now, I would link you to the original location of the comic to give credit where it's due, but it vanished off the face of the internet over two years ago, so that's not a possibility.quote>

This website is an awesome place to find internet history. Although much of the larger files are removed, there are many great links that are still intact.

P.S. Type in http://simtropolis.com and have a looksie? It goes back to Feb. 2nd 2003

However, you voted how you feel on issues. VT voted opposite of how he feels on issues and got those candidates. *You have to read the context of the posts before his* 2.gif

I did the "opposite" thing myself: got Rudy, Mitch and McCain. Too bad, because I liked the maverick John McCain we saw a few years ago. Since he has tried to get votes, rather than speak his mind...not so much.
