No PlugIns Seem To Work

I had to buy a replacement SC4 Deluxe when my CD went bad, which I installed on my laptop (I previously ran SC4 on my desktop).  Now none of the cities that I previously created with plugins will work, and trying to add a plugin to a new city also crashes the game to the desktop.  I downloaded the SC4 update from the SimCities site.

I previously had no problems with plugins, except for the occasional bad plugin.  I can't figure out why now it appears that I can't use any custom content.  The game otherwise works fine.

Any ideas about how to fix this problem are greatly appreciated - I really love all of the wonderful custom content available!  Thanks.

Just so I undersand... You copied the cities from your desktop to your laptop? If so, did you copy the Plugins folder over also? CC

How do the two computers compare, memory, and operating systems?

I tried it two different way.  First, by copying the folders from desktop to laptop.  Whe  the plugins crashed the game I started over fresh, downloading a couple of plugins from the web, then introducing them into a brand new city.  Same result .

They're basically the same except for the graphics cards.  My desktop had a NVIDEA GEForce, 64 mb, and the laptop I'm currently using only has a UniChrome, 32 mb.  It does meet the minimum system requirements, though, and isn't on any of the lists of cards with known conflict problems.

Ok, I still have no idea here the conflict was, but this worked: I zipped my plugin and regions folders to the desktop, uninstalled and re-installed SC4, then did NOT install the SC4 update. Then, I downloaded a couple of Maxis created landmarks and a couple of custom content lots - and they all work! I guess I'll have to just be very choosy about plugins, introducing them one at a time. Kin of a hassle since there were no conflicts before, but at least I know that some custom content is still available to me.

And thank you, Simtropolis community, for still remaining loyal to a game franchise I have been addicted to for 7 years and counting!
