Introduction

The Republic of British Normandy is a tiny, safe, Western European nation, renowned for unrivaled standard of living. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 14 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality. It was once a British colony (independant since early 20th century) and lies next to the Northern French province of Normandy. After it's independence in 1902 the country struggled economically for some years. In World War II Pixodarus was on the side of the Allies and it's small 15,000 man army was cut in half fighting Nazis in France as they were poorly equipped due to lack of funding. There were some attempts at stimulating the economy, like building two of the world's tallest buildings in the 1930s, but these had little effect, with the economy remaining steady until a boom in the 1950s.  Troughout the late 50's and early 60's, as the economy was beginning to grow rapidly, the country started to grow in population as there was high immigration and people could afford larger families. Much of the immigration came from France, England and Ireland with 35% of the population today having Irish roots. On 1st January 1973 Normandy joined the EU, of which it's citizens have always been firm supporters of. As of 2007 Normandy remains the financial centre of Europe and is home to the European Central Bank.

    Update 1:Staunton Island

Staunton Island has with a population of about two million, the highest population of any Norman district and is also the most densely populated. For obvious reasons it is sometimes known as 'Skyscraper City'

First up is Staunton Island City Hall. This building angered a lot of people when first proposed as the style was so unlike anything else in the city.

    SouthStauntonIsland-15Apr-11.png

Next is the Staunton World Financial Centre, which is currently home to two of the world's top ten tallest buildings. The third, smaller building has won many architectural awards for it's creative design.

    SouthStauntonIsland-15Apr-3.png

    SouthStauntonIsland-3Apr16711953896.png

Home to one of the world's largest communications companies Norcom Tower is a stunning supertall, built in the 1990's.

    SouthStauntonIsland-15Apr-16.png

The Royal Bank of British Normandy (est. 1870) is the country's third largest bank and in the 1950's moved it's headquarters to Staunton at the John Frederick Complex.

    SouthStauntonIsland-15Apr-6.png

Citigroup's European HQ are located just North-East of the Financial Centre and sits next door to the home of RTBN (Radio Television British Normandy), Normandy's oldest media company.

    SouthStauntonIsland-15Apr-4.png

Home of sport in Staunton is the Westside Sports Complex. This facilitates the 60,000 seater Redgar Stadium (Football, Athletics etc.) and Murphy Field (baseball) which sits 50,000.

    SouthStauntonIsland-15Apr-8.png

One of the newest completed supertalls in Staunton is the TrumpInternational Hotel and Tower Staunton Island

    SouthStauntonIsland-15Apr-18.png

Of the west coast on a small, artificial island is one of the world's tallest and most expensive hotels, the Clarion Grand Hotel (forgot to turn off grid, sorry)

    SouthStauntonIsland-15Apr-13.png

Finally, a little old style, 1930's buildings that were both at one time the world's tallest buildings, Gordon Tower and the Smith Building Society Building.

First off let me say this isn't my best work, it was the first city I built in this region and is the only megacity (sort of). I still want to keep it because I think it makes my region more dynamic.

Well that will probably be my update for this week. I more than likely won't be back on until

    Update 2: Maps of Normandy

A small update, two maps of the British Normandy Region

I don't know why these uploaded so poorly, but...sorry  4.gif

The first map is of the cities in Normandy. I thought it should make the CJ easier to understand

    CityLocations1.jpg

    CityLocations2.jpg

    CityLocations3.jpg

The second map I just made for fun. It shows the motorway system as I have it so far, any tunnels I have and expansion plans for the motorways.
