I was interested in look at the buildings in the game in max, then possibly rendering them into sc4 (FOR PERSONAL USE OBVIOUSLY), anybody got any idea how to open them? (files are .xac and .xsm) Unless of course they give us the models (Like monte cristo did with CL)

To open the files you need to have the sc4model file. Then use reader, and open the model file there is a option to see the model, and you can export the part of the model you want to 3ds format. I cant explin it well, but the reader readme (reader readme sonds funny) can. This would probably tell you haow to do it if you dont figure it out yourself.

The reader can be downloaded here

uhh, re-read the thread, this is about SCS.

Toxic, check around their city life website, and somewhere there is a nice big download with tutorials and stuff about how to make buildings for city life. If the buildings in city life are formatted the same way as city life's, then there might be something useful in there about importing the buildings to 3ds max.

I posted some info on XAC in a thread by morpheus. Unfortunately unless you find some programmers who feel like building on that info, you'll have to wait a few months to a year for TM to release a BAT before you make anything. Sorry... Annoying I know, but SC4 was in the same boat.
