This morning I downloaded the Mac os 10.4.11 update to find the new version of safari. But to my disgust it would not work. It had problems with opening tabs and generally browsing. So, after using firefox to search for the answers, I found what I wanted.

If you are having problems with the new safari read below

To fix safari 3 you need to extract the old plug-ins for safari 2.

go to Library->internet plug-ins. Take out all the old plug-ins, you can leave the ones like quicktime and java ect.

It might pay to keep the discarded plug-ins somewhere because that may not be the problem.

The main culprit for the plug-ins seems to be one called PicLens so delete that one.

Its a good idea to restart your computer so safari can load the plug-ins that are left over. (although it may still work with out the restart)

If that fails then it is not the plug-ins fault. There is still one more method.

go into library->InputManagers

take out anything in there. For example, my safari wasn't working today. So after using firefox, I found that a folder/plug-in was causing my problems. It was called "SpeedDownload Enhancer" after this was taken out of the picture my safari was working perfectly.

If your safari worked insanely then congratulations but this has been a major topic over at the apple web site.

I made this topic so that any safari users here at simtropolis that had given up hope and are using something like firefox or IE can go back to using safari.

If it still doesn't work then fell free to ask.

(I hope this topic is in the right place, because im not to sure if this is a windows problem as well)
