Nice update. I think I'm starting to see a Greek/Roman naming system going here. Nice stadium. Nice work.

    Welcome to Page 2!!!  Woohoo!

Well, to celebrate Page 2, and the insomnia that I am cursed with tonight, I am posting a teaser/update.  Its not an official update, but it might as well be, type of thing....Anywho, to the pictures!

This is Garland's Traffic Volume Graph.  For a long time, I always had really bad traffic, and I could never get cars from being the most used form of transportation.  That is, until I learned was a transportation network was.  Key word being 'network'.  So, now I find that I can get most of my people to use bus or walk.  Although, it is not always the case, as you can see.

    CommuteGarland.jpg

This is the Daisy Hill Community of Garland.

    DaisyHillCommunity.jpg

This is the new booming Commercial District of Garland.

    GarlandCommercialDistrict.jpg

This is a shot of Garland, as of now.  It has about 4,000 people in it.  As you can see, there is only one spot of industrial.  That is because the industrial district is all in Garland Point(a different city tile).

    GarlandZones.jpg

Ok, that's all for now.  However, there is some bad news.  When I went to save, after taking the pictures, SC4 shut down on me.  The good news is that the city is not lost(Thank Goodness!), but it probably won't look the exact same in the 'official' update.  Hoped you enjoyed this teaser/update.

Nice work. Very nice, in fact. Quite nice, indeed. It's such a pity though that SC4 tends to crash a lot...

You're off to an excellent start! Nice layout of the roads and all of the zones. The buildings blend pretty well in Garland. I like that last shot of the zones, it's good to see things from a different perspective. Keep up the good work, I can't wait for more!

bbfan02 ~ I find that messing around with random pics on photoshop is a really good way to at least get a basic understanding, which is what I have.  Thanks.  I'm trying to keep most of the traffic on the roads and avenues.

2nerdy4u ~ Yeah, me too!  Thanks for the help!  The Greek/Roman stuff was inspired by you!  It is a bummer that SC4 crashed, but I think it might have been my own fault.  oopsy

jrhnemo ~ Thanks.  It was something that I just made up on the spot.  hehe

suplado! ~ Thanks very much.  I got the parkings lots off of STEX, if I can remember correctly.  I'm liking the roundabouts.  I recently downloaded some roundabouts from the BSC Website that SimGoober made.  They plop at the end of a street.  Its a nice way to still have a roundabout, without taking up 4 tiles.  Its too bad they're not transit enabled, though.

mkaustin ~  Thanks for your comments.  And thanks again on the great map!

Jacky ~ Thanks.  I'm trying to think of some real life examples, and ideas on commerical, as well as residential, layouts.  Its fun what you can find with maps. hehe

ky72x ~  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comments!  I'm hoping that I can keep up the flow in the town.  My main goal with this city itself is to start to understand how the Sims in my city use the transit systems vs. driving in cars.

I know I said I wouldn't be able to update everyday, and these really aren't 'updates', just random pictures.  Today I was working in Garland Point, where the industrial center is.  I want to post a couple of 'teaser' type pictures.  I'll have an update on Garland Point later on.

This is the area closest to Garland, but it is still halfway into the large city tile from Garland.

    Factory.jpg

This is one of the smaller ponds near the farming community in Garland Point.  There are a lot of moose in this area.

    MoosePond.jpg

This is an overview of Garland.  There is approx. 5,000 people in the city.

    Garlandat5k.jpg

This is the currently plan for the future zoning of Garland.  The idea is to encompass the small commercial area with residential, to prepare for a larger, downtown area to the north of the current development.  Green is Residental, Blue is Commercial.  And the Red will be where a new Avenue will be placed.

    GarlandPlanning1.jpg

Well, I hope you enjoyed these pictures.  Thanks to all for your comments and for visiting.

Garland Point's teaser shots look good. The power lines fit in that industrial area very well. Nice overview of Garland, and it was great to see your future plans for the city. Keep up the excellent work!

Jacky ~ Thanks.  I hope you like the 'recent additions'.

penguin007 ~ Thanks man.  I like my cities to have a little more trees in them because I feel that they give it life.

suplado! ~ Thanks.  I'm trying to work on a layout where most people use the avenues and roads, rather than clogging all the streets.

bbfan02~ Thanks.  I hope you'll like the next update, too.

Geronimo ~ Thanks for stopping by.  I'm glad you like it. Visit again!

mkaustin ~ Thanks.  Hopefully I can get an update together soon.  I was working on the development last night.

ky72x ~ Thanks.  I got the power lines from STEX.  There is a wide variety, but I liked these ones the most.

2nerdy4u ~ I should have the expansion done sometime today, or tomorrow.

bbfan02 ~ I used Photoshop to make it.  The font is called, 'Burnstown Dam'

    Update.jpg

Well, this is a semi-update.  Its more like teasers for a larger, soon to come update.  Enjoy!

These shops/apartments are across from the newly built University of Garland (UG).  They are convenient for housing and have small restaurants on the first floor.

    UniVillage.jpg

Garland has experienced a huge boost in commerce and in residence.  With a current population of 20,000, this once small rural town is turning into a thriving city.

The future of transit in Garland.

    Just a note:

All of these pictures are from new development.  I haven't changed the older part of the city.  So, the neighborhoods and such are still intact.

I learned how to do the coolest thing with  photoshop.  I wanted to...er...show it off. hehe.  Tell me what you think.  Should I use these now as the Update and Replies Banners?

Jacky ~ Thank very much.  I like how trees seems to give a city a more relaxing feel.

bbfan02 ~ Thanks!  This is my first attempt with GLR.  I usually rely on train, and I haven't used El-Trains in a very long time.

2nerdy4u ~ Yeah, he better watch out.  Mwahahahahahaha!

penguin007 ~ Thanks man.  I hope you like what you see next.

Somebody ~ I don't know off the top of my head, but I'll find out when I play again.

mayorbk ~ Thanks!  Come visit again, soon!

    {EDIT NOTE: How about that new Replies one mkaustin?}

Wow.  That is cool.  Especially the "update" one; the pink in the "replies" hurts my eyes 3.gif

[edit: yeah, the new "replies" is easier on the eyes!]

Nice banners. I think the replies banner has colors that work together better than the update ones, but both are nice.

And the region shot is cool too
