Any way to enfroce No right or left turns?

I was wondering if there anything out there to enforce No right and/or Left turn. In fact, something has "Right turn only", "No Straight" (Can only go Left or Right) would be great.

I am trying to see if there is anyway to control traffic this way. Could be nice to solve some of my congestion issues with rebuilding the roads. Also, might try out buildings some crazy things like Michigan Left Turns. Even though Michigan Lefts seem kind of pointless, would kind of fun to make traffics to do them.

Somebody could try that but no one has done it yet.

this would be incredibly difficult. Because the intersection tile is actually what controls this, there are an insane amount of combinations that this would apply to (No left, right, straight, and combinations thereof, compounding various combinations of the 4 directions.

To just do a simple set of 2-way no left/right lots, there would have to be lots for each network and each combination you wanted to apply it to (road+road, Road+street, road+avenue, Road T avenue, street+street, etc...)

On top of this, each lot would have to employ some creative pathing. I'm not aware of any way to have standard road paths not automatically intersect if they come within so many meters of another path (someone fill me in on this, I'm way out of my league here). But it is my understanding that if you have a # shape to the paths, it can be defined with just 4 segments, and they automatically can turn where they intersect....I think this works for even closely spaced paths that can be employed identically to a lane change which allows for even CLOSE paths to intersect in effect (such as the Highway T interchange bug).

So, you would probably need to change network types and control direction that way, which would screw up the automata. And I would assume if you're concerned on a micro-level to the point you'd want no-left intersections, that this is an unacceptable alternative.

So, on top of everything else, you would need some creative pathing (at least) just to make the intersection functional...making it look good would be another story entirely.

I do think you could simulate this though. If you made a lot that controlled the direction of traffic, it would automatically reverse for evening commute. So, you could control access streets or roads (as opposed to through), to work in only one direction, essentially allowing access in one direction, and preventing it in the other, and then allowing the same traffic out it let in, and blocking the same... If a lot such as that were used, it would prevent all intersecting lanes from accessing that street, while still allowing the street to access the road....

The reason I suggest that is I get the feeling that your sims aren't smart enough to figure out what main roads they're supposed to be using and use streets to bright red congestion... While it doesn't really solve the question of preventing single lanes of traffic, it does fix it functionally.

Also, if it is an aesthetic thing, I think the question is moot, because the 'creative pathing' I mentioned above (and meant flying cars), would sort of defeat the purpose all together and the standard NAM lanes would be preferable.

So, no, it's not possible to make No right/left turn intersections for SC4.

Looking at this, unless Maxis decided to give us a peak at the pathing hard coded engine, I can't see how this could be done.

The closed I came to it was a Transit Enabler Blocker that I worked on a little while ago. What it does is it allows you to build the road or street as normal but it will not allow cars, buses or trucks down that section of road. Commuters were forced to use an alternative route and this has been done in Solarian Point - I'll get the pics later.

Otherwise unless NAM Team can think of something, I can't see how it can be done
