The red highlight is a bit decieving since in reality you should avoid going to the actual red highlight, by properly moving next to the ACTUAL BUILDING of the marina, preferably 1/2 a tile away, that should solve your problem.

How do you get the train training mission?

I have at least 30 tiles of rail, I have 2 Freight train stations, 4,000 sims, and commersial devoulpment. Acording to maxis, I should have it now. I haven't compleated it before.23.gif

well the real requirements for the training mission are stated in the chart, maybe it has been unlocked but your train usage is low so thats why the mission indicator hasnt popped up yet, try going to the UDI submenu to see if there is a yellow rim afound the passenger or frieght rail engines to see if the mission is avable, if you see the border then click on the icon and you should be able to play your mission.

any tips on that uncle vinnie mission with the garbage truck? It's the most baffling mission I've ever played. It's kinda like when you start the mission (with all those numerous ice cream trucks appearing), the mission fails in a split second.

You can do any mission without needing the mission icons. You have to go to the Mysims view. It's below the mayor mode button. Click on the car menu, and choose from the list of Cars&trains, boats, and planes.

You can only do the same mission once every few months.

You're right, Bobucles - ever since I found out about that way of getting to the missions, it was easier than constantly scrolling to find the action. What's weird is I had no idea for a while that the fire trucks even had any missions, because there seems to be a bug where the mission icons don't show on the main screen. So it is definitely better to use the view through Mysims.

Well, this thread has not been posted in for a long time, I see, but I have a question. How do I get rid of U Drive It? I actually have no interest at all in it, I just want to build my city. But that annoying car icon shows up all over the place, and sometimes it appears right as I am click the mouse for something else and I have to once again decline to drive the car. Is there a setting somewhere that will deactivate it?

Help: I can do air missions no problem, but my car missions are hopeless. i cant seem to drive up-hill! And, given my preference for interesting topography, this seems to mean that my car missions are hopeless! advice?

Yes it can be difficult to get up hills in u drive it. Just put the car on maximum power and it should slowley be going up the hill.

You can only go uphill so high.  If the terrain is too steep, then none of the vehicles can get up it.  In such a case, you either have to modify the terrain to reduce the slope or just forget about car missions.

If the simcars seem to be able to drive up the hills with no problem, shouldnt that mean that my u-drive-it cars should be able to? And is it possible to use ferries in u-drive-it scenarios?

In answer to your first question: Theoretically -- yes, in reality -- maybe.  Sim cars don't go off-roading, and the only time when a car of yours should have difficulty going up hill is when you are off-roading.  It would be very helpful if you could post a screenshot an area that you are having trouble going up.

Yes, it is possible to use ferries in UDI missions.  Getting them to work seems to be a great mystery, though.  I have everything I need to run ferry missions, but I can't run a passenger ferry mission to save my life.  For what ever reason, the computer just doesn't want to give them to me.

yes, the game does get stingy, but it helps to have connected neighbors with ferries.  There is only one ferry mission with a reward, but an important one though.  The marina, which several other water mission depend on.

I think the cars in UDI have 3 cylinder Geo engines, even the trucks lug down going over a one type of bridge.

The missions I have the hardest time getting, and completing are the garbage trucks.

The only way I can get it done is to plow full speed ahead and hope I can get there before the red diamond gets me.  If I slow down to avoid colisions, mr butt head tells me I failed.

    Couple of things...

First I found it helps to hit [shift] to turn on stick-to-roads before going uphill.

Also, hit [shift] to turn it off when going through Avenue intersections. Otherwise, I end up making endless U-turns.

Finally, why do Helicopters and UFOs sometimes turn the wrong way?

    Few things:

    • The pictures aren't showing up.
    • A tank can be destroyed by a bunch of freight trucks.
    • To avoid the police helicopter: keep moving!
    • It's possible to play the same mission twice in a row.  Just play it, then if it has an alternative, open that and click on What's my Alternative?.
